why was question mark not use
But on a more serious note, I think it was because of the 'Iron Men' back in the early ages of the Imperium, which were a series of AI robots that turned on Mankind, if I recall correctly.

Chaos did build AI's Except then the AI's betrayed them.
AI's are banned because they are sentient's and they cost too much to make and take too long to build. Its much easier to give it a spirit.

Because shoving a daemon in the machine is quicker and most effective. And harder to break.

basically a little story...they sent me and a few mates too a military testing ground showing us their toys and they showed us sorta drone weapons it floats and flies fast and shoots a lot... it was very cool
but anyways it got me thinking, khamrians would make a good conversion....all you do is convert our armies into any type of robot you want...(not necron as they are advance) but more like retro toys, very classic robot feel, very robotic as they say...

Basically watch the Terminator series and take out the time travel. Also replace "John Connor" with "The Emperor" because you know he had to be there and sort it out, it's what he does (did before the chair anyway )
Also Adeptus Mechanicus does still have robots, but their AI is much more simplistic and restricted to taking simple orders from a Tech Priest who is assigned to them. IIRC No more that 5 can be in a squad and they have to have a special Tech Priest to control them.

Necrons aren't AIs. They're the base essence of Necrontyr in living metal bodies.
Chaos *did* have robots of a kind in the early years of 40k; Chaos Androids. I think they were actually a type of Daemon Engine, but whatever.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Mindwiped babies. Some are implied to be vat born, but for most...
Well, I suspect the survival rate in a hive is low enough anyway that dying a few years early isn't going to be considered a negative by the Munitorum. Especially since cherubum are rare.

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time. |

AI's are banned since they rebelled. They were mere slaves for humans and when they understood their situation they decided to put an end to it.
When humans were able to repel the rebellion, too advanced AI was forbidden to avoid any kind of further problems.
The "Machine spirit" is not a spirit, it's just an AI not so much developed as it should be. There are no soul bounds or whatsoever. The only machine that has a soul it's the Dreadnought... but that could be a mind / AI joint operation system.
