hey there just started a tyranid army and i thought it would be cool to show how it grows until i have it where i want it!


so far i have a broodlord, a pyrovore (which im converting into my hive tyrant) and 8 genestealers assembled. the army list will be as follows

Hive Tyrant x1 (a converted pyrovore)
Broodlord x1
Genestealers x27
Carnifex x2


Red/Yellow/Black paint scheme


i know it dosent seem like much but i am new to nids

Your skills with the glue bottle are clearly unprecedented. Now get some paint on the things.

Have fun building your nids and don't forget to make the fexes the same if you want to expand greatly in the future.

went to buy a hive tyrant today and they had none, so to personalize the army im converting a pyrovore into one, prob get some big scything talons and a few other things for it.

started converting the Pyrovore into my Hive Tyrant, glued some of the extra limbs and extended carapiece bits i had left over from my genestealers to him to make him stand out more. I also clipped a spacemarine helmet off of a chaos tank fence post and glued it into one of my broodlords hands, it works out well because the helmet was already made to look as if it was from a dead marine so its all beat up, i primed in chaos black and drybrushed with boltgun metal so all the dings and gouges in it would stand out, i did the eyes in blood red as well. I think im going to model the base's of the nids in dead space marine body parts, most likely the iron hands.

ok here is what i got after messing around for 3 hours with paint schemes and what not

70% lyanden darksun 30% skull white mix over body
gore red on the tounge
bleached bone drybrush on bone spurs on back/head and arms
codex grey drybursh on base
boltgun metal drybrush on space marine helmet
all washed in devlan mud

Cool, but I'm not sure how you are going to make a Tyrant out of a Pyrovore. They seem quite different in size, and that could make it hard to make it look convincing.

i know im not going to be able to make it as big, its really going to be more of a proxy till i actually get a real one.
