so i was sittin here going over my list i mplayted last game and .. the harpies did well but .. 200 pts each... for 1 shot a turn on tanks is meh.. so im gonna do something a lil different. gargoyles failed miserably. and the parasite sucks against mech lol

Hq1: hive tyrant, two sets of talons, wings, adrenal glands, leech essence, paroxysim
Hq2: hive tyrant, two sets of talons, wings, adrenal glands, leech essence, paroxysim

Elite 1: hive guard brood x 2
Elite 2: hive guard brood x 2

Troop 1: 10 termagaunts
troop 2 : 10 termagaunts
Troop 3: 20 hormagaunt, toxin sacs.
Troop 4: 20 hormagaunt, toxin sacs.
Troop 5: Tervigon, toxin sacs, catalist, onslaught
Troop 6: Tervigon, toxin sacs, catalist, onslaught

Fast 1:5 shrike brood, paired boneswords, toxin sacs.
Fast 1:5 shrike brood, paired boneswords, toxin sacs.

so my thoughts to this are this.. start the game with my hormies up front then warriors, then HT's then the tervigons by them and the small squads of gautns near an objective, the hive guard will be behind the gaunts and infront of the warriors. main objective is hit um hard, fast, and be unrelenting

I think your list relies too much on CC and would probably suffer a lot to the likes of IG or some Space Marine CC armies. One thing that would probably wreak havoc on most of the list would be CC Terminators with Thunder Hammers and Lightning Claws. Dedicated CC units would usually beat your dedicated CC Hive Tyrants and Shrike broods. Also super shooty armies like IG, Orks and Tau would really hurt this list with their massed fire able to take out most of your troops in one turn.

I would give the hive tyrants Hive Commander and probably get rid of the Shrike broods entirely and give the Hive Tyrants some guards to soak wounds and also would probably add a Zoanthrope brood with myetic spores. Since the Shrike Broods are 500 points you should be able to afford it.

I think you are on to something. I would also include a large unit of gargoyles to provide cover for the shrikes. And perhaps drop the Hive Tyrants since they are really expensive for what they do.

Hmmm only 2 ranged units and 2 monstrous creatures to deal damage up close, your going to struggle with vehicles.

Nooo, don't do that. If you want anything instead of a tyrant it would be Zoanthropes and the Doom of Malan'tai. Or Deathleaper who is really useful against psychics. The Parasite of Mortex just isn't worth it. Fluffy though.

Awesome things in Nids are...

Zoanthropes (2 amazing abilties, Warp Lance is just devastating, Warp Blast is great against infantry. It has synapse!, It has 2 wounds and 3+ invuln save).

What more could you ask for? Well range for starters so drop them in a pod. I find if you take one unit they generally get CC'd by your opponenet. I find 2 units of 2 work best in an army.

Secondly, Im not keen on multiple Tervigons for several reasons, I wont go into detail. I would though advise on taking one in reserve as a troop choice to hold an objective.

That means taking a Termagant brood choice in your army. Not so bad really as Termagants fitted out right can also be savage.

Zoanthropes for vehicles are the way forward. Though you will still need to sort HQ's out.
