So I finally got my list put together and my army painted. I've played two times and had a draw against demons (gasp), and got slaughtered by Khorne WOC. I think it's a fun list to play. Winning is not at all important to me I just enjoy this style of army. Lots of muscle and heading for CC. I'll keep you updated as I play more games. Here goes:
No magic, no magic items.
Lords and Heros:
Doombull
H. Armor
Great Wpn
262 Total
Gorebull
G. Wpn
170 Total (x3)
Core Units:
Ungor Raiders
5 Raiders- 30
30 Total (x3)
Special Units:
Minotaurs
3 Minotaurs - 165
G Weapons
St. Bearer
209 Total (x4)
Rare Units:
Ghorgon 275 Total (x2)
Army looks great on the table and is easy to play! I know for comp I'm goin to take a pounding but it's all for great fun.
Characters go in the minotaur units and this make everything frenzied! (very easy for opponent to control if they know what theyre doin)
Let me know wha t you guys think. I have fun with it.

I think it's cool that in addition to having no magic, you've gone with no magic items. You could have a cool kind of feral theme with something like that Although you must take a beating during that phase of the game!
Can you post up some pics of this army? I'd love to know what you did for Ghorgon conversions... apparently for two of them!
You also must paint very quickly, since these models didn't come out very long ago!
Last thing, you should probably edit your post to show only the points cost of the units- listing out the cost of individual items of wargear is not allowed from what I remember.
So let's see some pics

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can. I tend to paint fairly nice and in an insane amount of time. My friends are always amazed at how long (or short) it takes me to paint models. I started this beastmen army on Sunday (feb, 21) and finished last night (feb 23). I normaly paint an entire army in a week or so. Pics coming soon.
Not sure what youre talking about with the points cost of items though. I'll check into it.
Thanks

Hmm, for some reason there's no sticky at the top of the WHFB army list forum. But on top of the 40k one there is this:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/281186.page
It's just a guideline to list out the costs of the whole unit, rather than the cost of each upgrade.
I notice in your sig you play wood elves and skaven (and other stuff, too!). I have wood elves and am looking to do skaven sometime in the near future. I was considering a beastmen army similar to the one you posted here (except with chariots for troops, only one gorebull, a scroll caddy, and only one rare) but I've decided skaven will be my next WHFB project instead . I might do a 40k one before that, though...
Be sure to post a link if you get some pictures . Even a bad pic would be cool, like I said I'd love to know how you did the Ghorgon conversions!

I don't think its bad from comp. You have zero magic, zero shooting, and no magic items. You've taken lots of combat effective troops, and its not like you can ambush all the units of skirmishers, you can ambush 1 if i remember right.
Only suggestion: drop one of the gore bulls to give the general stubborn, and maybe add some armor/ scaly skin to the others, or another unit of skirmishers.
Comp I think is fine, you have 2 terror causes but its a themed army that can be re-directed like crazy by skaven slaves. I like the army, its smashy and fun, and if hits in force can win. Picture when painted if possible!

Ok, so I have display board done and will be posting pictures tonight. I've never posted pics on dakka so should be fun. Also, i'll be taking this army to the Lonewolf GT in March, I'll keep you dakkaites posted on how it does. Like I said, winning isn't at all important but this army can definitely win games, just going to be hard. Pics incoming soon!!
Thanks for all the responses.
Oh btw, I'll post some pics of all of my armies soon. Thanks again

Here some pics I took really quickly with my phone. Being a TX fan, I decided to make this army Texas Longhorn themed. I played a game against a magic heavy Lizardman army and got obliterated but it was nice killing his slann. So, thus far, I'm 0-2-1. Still having fun!! More pics of battles asap.
Thanks all for reading and commenting.

I like the theme but your going to get rslaughterd in the magic phase. As much as I like it and want to do something just like it its not competitive what so ever.
Id drop one of the gore bulls for a spell caddy. And another for a hand full more skirmishers. If anything they can be used to screen your minis from getting charged by calv and use them to screen you from missle fire.

It would depend on who you play, though! I just got slaughtered by skaven who had almost zero magic... I actually think I may have fared better against the Daemon army on the next table, since I was tooled up to defend against magic (which ended up being nonexistent, so somewhat of a waste of points for me)

Bingo - not all of us have raging hard-ons for the magic phase, and even the most jacked up phase can fall apart or accomplish little. That said, the way you break frenzied mino blocks in combat is by turning their flank and then smashing into that flank, so as always movement spells will be the most devastating. Yet, how many are out there? I personally don't play an army with one! (And you can divert minos, turn their flanks and charge in without using magic ) Orkimedes, I'll admit that's a pretty intense army, really just puts it right out there and goes for the throat. My first thought was that standards in min-sized mino units weren't great ideas (I'd prefer bloodkines for EVEN MORE randomization from shooting), but you know you are out to win combats, and each one of those units gets a mino-hero who is a tough cookie. All the same, I think I might have dropped at least 2 standards to afford the Chalice of Dark Rain for the doombull, so you get 1 round of diminished incoming fire before tearing faces off. Army looks good though, and impressive how quickly it came together I think my one issue is that I had a hardish time telling the characters from the other plastic minos (gorebulls = brownish, doombull = reddish?), and I think going with the uber metal doombull for your lord might have been a nice flair and make the biggest dude totally distinguishable. But meh, nice army, nice gorgons, nice basing / theme Keep us posted how things go - Salvage

Well said Salvage, I dont plan to change anything with this army. I have 3 other armies that I mix/match to competitive/casual play. (over 5000 painted points of each listed in my sig). I just put this army together for the theme and I'll play it from time to time. I agree this army will get destroyed in magic phases, especially against tooled up magic armies. But that's ok for me, I've never been a competitive player. I'm more about unique armies that are painted well! I can (and do, secretly in my mind) hope for miscasts and seeing their magician blow his head up, lol.
I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday and he said that I am doing the wrong thing by taking this army to a GT. He said I'm just handing out 5 wins to the people that are matched up against me. My response was "meh, no big deal." He's very competiive, he said that 9 times out of 10 he can slaughter my army (he plays magic heavy high elves). I made sure to tell him that the one time that I win he will never hear the end of it! Ever! Now, the pressure is on him! That's the type of player that I am. If, at the end of the day, someone tells me that they thought my army is pretty cool/unique and they enjoy looking at it, then I feel the whole experience is worth it, the winning part, well I'll just leave that to the more competitive bunch.
Thanks again all for the responses, will keep everyone posted on the battle progress.

Definitely, and your army may suprise someone who wasn't going magic heavy, and wasn't ready for this many uber cc units.
So you have 5000 points of wood elves? I'd appreciate some advice on them, I'm feeling my way through a new iteration of my list now (forest spirits).
Also, just because something is repeated a lot doesn't make it necessarily true... armies have won tournaments with zero magic before, because they've had a huge advantage in the other phases, since their points have all been directed to other things.

Well with my Wood Elves I tend to play the classic avoidance/denial list. I'll post a pic of my 2250 list soon. I have very few magic items/points. I do, however, use 2 treemen. Here's my list to sum it up:
Highborn with bow of loren, arcane bodkins, stone of the crystal mere and great eagle. this guy smokes heavily armored troops. in fact, he smokes everyone.
2 level 1 spellsingers with 2 dispel scrolls each.
3 units of glade guard (10 strong), no upgrades
3 units of glade guard scouts (10 strong), no upgrades
2 units of warhawk riders (3 strong) no upgrades
2 treemen
to date, i have played well over 20 games with this list and have never lost. the worst ive had is a couple of draws where i was ahead in points. its very simple and effective. This is my competitive list, i was planning on taking it to the GT but decided otherwise when the new beastmen book came out. I have lots of other units that I've toyed with but nothing is as effective as this. (Highborn on dragon looks nice but gets me into trouble, lol) I have dryads, wardancers, glade guard riders, etc but rarely use them. All in all, around 5k points.
My two coppers...

Here's some quick pictures (again, with my phone) of my 2250 competitive wood elves. Yes, those are real trees that make up the treemen. Like I said, very simple and effective. I intentionally made one a little bit bigger (the treeman) than the other in case I want to use one as a Treeman Ancient. Thanks for looking.

What, because they're on a football field carrying tray? Not to sound like an old crabby dude, but it'd be nice if you posted something with a little more oomph in these threads Krellnus. You've dropped something in about every thread in the Fantasy section overnight, but it's all like this one. Love to see you reduce the output just a little and put something in that really contributes. I appreciate seeing the extra traffic down here in the Fantasy section, but lets make it quality, not quantity if we can, hey?
Back on topic: Don't think I've ever heard of someone doing multiple armies this fast. I'm sorry I'm not up there at Lonewolf this weekend getting to see it in person. You'll probably run into a lot of the guys I've been playing down here. Can't wait to see some reports on the event.
WEs: The RealTree treemen work a lot better than I thought. It's a nice idea, and it'd be plenty clear which was the ancient if you went that route. The idea I like best, though is the giant owl for the eagle rider. Is that a toy, or how did you come across it. It's little touches like that that help push an army up and over in my opinion.

Wow, I didn't even realize you'd replied to this thread with a pic! Thanks for posting it... it must be murder to try to walk across the board towards your army with all those longbows, and I imagine fleeing charges (or doing a stand-and-shoot).
The owl's so cool! I didn't even notice it until reading RZ's post... I'm reading through the Harry Potter books so that makes it extra awesome in my book
Thanks for posting that pic. Have you had more games with the original army, and can you update on how it's been doing? I was thinking about your list, and I realized why most people seem to prefer chariots to the ungors (even though they can't screen)- the overrun! Have you ever put the ungors into a big combat, too, just to have a chance of overrunning and wiping out an enemy unit?

Hey, thanks for the responses guys. I tend to do well with my WE army but I also tend to get competitive when I play it and (if you've read my above post, I don't like playing like that) I'm sure I'll get disappointed if I lose. Also, the reason I don't take the WE army to tournaments is because I would run into the "quality of win" games. I'm sure that I could beat most armies, but no opponent is going to enjoy losing like that. (Although, that technically is how WE's play) I don't do CC unless I have favorable matchups with the Treemen and I literally just pepper everything to death and force armor saves. Again, not a very fun game for the other guy. So I've never even considered taking it to a tournament. But I do enjoy playing them at my LFGS from time to time.
Back to the thread:
Lonewolf GT update. So I exceeded my expectations this year!! With my Minotaur army i was fully expecting to lose every game. I won a game and tied one!!!!! My overall record was 1-3-1. Here are some quick upates:
Game 1. DE vs. Minotaurs. Well, his list had 100 missile shots per turn, it was very mobile and I knew it was going to be ugly. The general make up was 2 units of shades, 2 Dark Rider units, 2 Bolt throwers, 2 Crossbow units, and 2 units of Cold One Knights. High Sorceress as the general. I mean, what is there to say, I had a long walk across the field and needless to say the Ol' Minotaurs sprung a thousand leaks!! I think he threw me a bone and fed my Ghorgon a unit of Cold One Knights for the fun factor. It was cool of him. Overall a beautifully painted army for him and he played his army well. A massacre for him. Current record 0-1....
Game 2. WOC vs. Minotaurs. First of all, let me just say this guy was very cool and fun to play against. Again, very nicely painted Slaanesh army. Quick overview was lvl 4 Slanesh sorcer, level 2 tzeentch on disc, level 2 nurgle sorcerer, 16 Warriors MOS, 2 Marauder Horsemen MOS, 2 Hound units, 2 Knight units, 2 Chariots MoS, and Hellcannon. Ok, so again, very, very fun game. I got first turn I moved directly towards his army, thats all. On his first turn he moves into position with his untis. His hellcannon failed its LD check and had to move towards me so he moved about 2 inches away from me. Next turn I charged the hellcannon with minotaurs, killed it, overran (D6....) and was able to hit his unit of warriors!!! Yay, I'm in CC with a full unit!! I was able to kill a few warriors then over the next few turns we had wishy washy CC and magic phases. It ended up being a very close game!! Yay, I pulled out a draw!! And I was actually ahead in points on this one. Great guy to play against and I was extremely pleased that I was able to pull a draw against his list. The hellcannon moving up really helped me out!! Current record 0-1-1!!
Game 3. WOC vs. Minotaurs. Very beautifully painted Slaanesh army. Unique army, btw. 5 units of 22 to 24 marauders with Gwpns and shields MoS, 2 Warshrines MoS, 2 Sorcerers in chariots MoS, 2 units of Warhounds, BSB on mount and General on mount. The great thing here was that he did not use any magic items (he did use magic) so our armies were set to do some serious fighting this game. I got first turn, moved everything towards him. His turn 1, he charged his General out of his Marauder unit against my Ghorgon!!! He also charged both sorcerers into a unit of Minotaurs!!! I couldn't believe it!! (until we got to CC and realized his plan!!) He gave his general 2, yes 2, rolls on the EOTG table from the shrines. I'll be honest, it was about that time that I realized whey he did what he did and I got a little scared!! So his rolls on the table-----double ones!! his general had stupidity! The other roll was +1 attack. Not too bad, I thought. So we did CC, his lord really had a bad roll and he only put one wound on my Ghorgon. If anyone knows what Ghorgons are about you can guess the outcome! I killed his general and overran a D6. The other CC went as planned, he caused some impact hits and killed a minotaur and put two wounds on another. The good news was that he caused 5 wounds, the bad news was that minotaurs are S7 with G weapons!!!! Go Minotaurs Go!! I killed em and overran a D6. The next turn was exactly how I envisioned this army to work. I wish you could've been there to see it. It was like Lord of the Rings when the Riders of Rohan charged the flank of the Orc army on the Battle of Pelenor Fields, (in front of the white city). I mean, it was flawless execution by the Ol' Longhorns of Texas!! With that, Bevo's Blitz Brigade all charged in unison against every unit in his army except for his warshrines and one unit of dogs. His warshrines were directly behind so I knew that I would be able to get to them after the CC phase. The combined attacks of full units with impact hits was too much for the Marauders and I broke and pursued every unit. I caught one (go figure) and chased after the others. The rest of the game consisted of him rallying (or failiing to rally and running further) and me recharging in my following turns. It ended up a Massacre for the Longhorns!!!! Very great guy to play against and he had a beautiful army, he even won some painting awards. I ended up talkin with him throughout the rest of the tournament and I would walk over to his table in between games to see how he was doing in his current battles. Ended up being a great player and great guy. Current record 1-1-1.
So after day one I was very, very pleased. Fully expecting to go 0-3 I was already thinking abou the next day. If I lost both, I would still be happy with my end results. So, that's it for the first day, I have to head down town for a bit, I'll post day 2 when I get back. Hope you guys enjoy and thanks for the responses!!

Excellent! Very cool sounding third game, I love the idea of his army. I guess he should have either tried to keep his distance, or hit you with multiple units at once, since it sounds like his characters charging by themselves was a bad idea!
Looking forward to hearing about the next two games. If you want to make this a separate thread, you could put it up in the bat rep forum (not a big deal either way). It's really cool hearing about how a list does in battle after seeing it posted here

That is a very cool sounding series of 3 games, and you ended with 1-1-1, all that matters is that your minotaurs had lots of 'food' after the battle.

Sorry, I've been out of town for the past couple of days. (Vegas, and I won too!!) Let me finish up the tournament.
Day 2 Lonewolf GT:
Game 4: Wood Elves vs. Minotaurs: So this guy had a beautifully painted WE army. Nothing overpowering at all, just a very well balanced army. I thought this would end up being a good game. Army make up - Noble on horse with hail of doom arrow and helm of the hunt. Noble on great eagle with spites. Branchwraith with cluster of radiants. Spellsinger with 2 Dispel scrolls. 3 units of glade guard. 1 unit of glade riders. 3 units of dryads. 11 eternal guard. 3 treekin. 3 warhawk riders. 5 wild riders and a great eagle. As I said, very well balanced list. I thought I would be able to put a good fight against this army.
I get first turn and head straight toward him (big surprise). On his turn he maneuvers his army a bit and sets his glade riders right in front of my ghorgon thats holding my left flank. Shoots a few shots and I think overall put two wounds on a Minotaur. My next turn I'm forced to charge his glade riders which he obviously flees from setting up a somewhat favorable charge for his wild riders and treekin. Everything else moved forward. On his turn, he charged into my ghorgon and everything else backed up a bit. Good shooting phase for him ( I was in close range of his longbows now, bleh...) When it was all said and done, I had a unit of Minotaurs that only had a gorebull and sb left and my Doombull was all by himself!! During the CC, his wild riders and treekin did a total of 4 wounds against my ghorgon. I hit and wounded with everything back at his wild riders and this is where it got bad for me. From this point on, my opponent could not roll lower than a 5 on any of his dice, it was crazy!!! He made all of his saves....made the stubborn 10 test and looked forward to my ghorgons' demise next turn. Moved everything closer on my following turn, from which all of my charges, he flees. So a unit of glade guard fleeing and a unit of glade riders fleeing. Everything else just standing so close to him ready to get shot to hell!! So my Doombull is staring down 30 shots from glade guard longbows. Needless to say, he sprung a thousand leaks and died right there. Unit of Minotaurs is wiped off of the board and another is whittled down. Shooting phase, my Raiders shoot at his noble on eagle. I put three wounds on the rider to which he, of course, saved all of them on a 5+....During CC, ghorgon dies and I now have WE's on my left flank. The rest of the game had his dryads vs. minotaurs. Like I said, he's not rolling lower than a 5+ so I easily lost that CC. He would move away from me and then I'd get shot. I think I ended up killing a couple of wild riders and a unit of his glade guard. End result===massacre for the WE's. He played his army great and everything worked out well for him. We had a very good game and I think if I were to ever play this amy again I'd play it differently. I think deploying on one side of the battlefield would greatly limit his maneuverability and could work well for me. Oh well, he played good and earned the win. Smart player and good guy to play against.
Current record 1-2-1.
I'll re post in a bit the Bat rep of the final game. Thanks again all for reading.

Wow, the WE player sounds very good! Why was he testing on a stubborn 10 with wildrider/treekin in combat? I guess if he had a highborn (not a noble) it'd be lead 10... but where'd the stubborn come from?
I'm selfishly glad for the woodies win, of course... those longbows at short range are probably the bane of a list like this! (maybe a good idea to add in that chalice of dark rain at some point... )

The ghorgon lost - all wounds were warded it sounds like - and held on its stubborn 10
Nice quick reports, 50% on the first day wasn't bad at all! Leave it to good old WoC to bring a proper scrap for the minos, not this shooty, redirecty nonsense
