Off the top of my head, KFFs will be a godsend against heavy blast weapons, and mechanized is probably a good way to go.

KFF's are the way to go.

Bought me a deffblasta off Rotskrag earlier. Nice little killa. Just ask Rotskrag, hur hur.

Dual Big Meks with KFFs, 3x Heavy Battlewagons with Deffrollas and a decent-sized Loota firebase. If he's not taking Vendettas/Valkyries, you may not need the Lootas.

If I had to tailor a list to take on mech IG, it'd probably look like:

2x Big Mek KFF
Scoring Grots
3x20 Shoota Boyz/PK Nob
3x3 MegaNobz in Battlewagon w/Deffrolla, red Paint, Big Shoota
3x Battlewagon, Deffrolla, Red Paint, Big Shoota
Deffkoptas

Your AV14 wall is largely immune to his S6-7 shooting, which will be impressive, and the Rollawagons should be adequate anti tank / troop delivery units. Meganobz can easily squash any unit they get into h2h with, same with the boyz.

The Deffkoptas will be useful for scout-striking immobile vehicles if you get turn 1, and T/L Rokkits will be very effective against majority AV10 side armor IG vehicles.

If he has significant air elements, however, especially Vendettas, then you may be forced to take fewer Battlewagons. Side shots on battlewagons from flanking Vendettas will be a pain in the ass. Deffkoptas can help in this respect, but probably aren't enough on their own.

As an IG player it is very scary to see snikrot outflanking on the first turn (he can do can`t he?) right next to my unprotected 200 point tank but he should catch on fast so it won`t be as effective in the next game

I run an IG mech army and my friend plays an ork list much like that. I find it very difficult to get through the 4 up save and it tends to be very effective, if he goes first, he can wipe out just about all of my av 14 stuff w. deffcopta's scouting and the game almost always ends in a draw. Boarding planks on trukks w. musical nobs (nobs equipped diff) are also very annoying ><. So in short, yes. Its effective.

Edinburgh.

As a guard player I know from exprience that a squad of kommandos with Boss Snikrot can deal damage to an increadible extent mainly because of he eats leman russes for breakfast and ANY close combat in the rear of the guard causes mass panic. If you don't have any I'm sure cause you are playing friendly the other player will let you have a "Counts as". Hope I helped

Hm.... i am going to have to remake my list, cuz right now it haz Thrakka, 9 mega nobz so that thraka and nobz can fit into a battle wagon, then i have 3 trukks with boarding plank, and RPJ, 12 boyz in them inculding nob with PK... Then i have 3 killa kans, 1 deff kopta with TL rokkit, 3 buggies with rokkits.... And 25 shoota boyz.... I am going for 1.5k points with that.... So,
By what you guyz have said, i should have:
1) KFF mek
2) Snikrot
3)lots of battle wagons.....

Is that it?

Lots of Battle wagons to take out the tanks. Lots of tank busters for the same reason. Take every guardsman you have and shoot his boys to pieces. Try to out swarm the swarm. get more men on the table and rapid fire him to death!

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Deffkopta turn-one attack is handy to cut down some tanks. Basic idea, if you have turn one: deploy deffkopta as far out as possible. Do a 24" turbo boost as your free scout move, pre-turn one. Turn one, move 12", fire twin-linked rokkits, and assault rear armor with buzzsaw for wonderful shenanigans. You'll usually at least disable a tank per deffkopta, but the kopta usually dies in the next shooting phase (usually a lopsided trade in your favor). Combine this trick with Snikrot (forces enemies away from table edge) and delight in the mayhem.

I like twin-linked rokkit buggies as support for speed freek lists. You can move 12" and still fire twin-linked rokkits, giving you decent ranged shooting to pop some stuff as you speed forward. Keep them near the KFF and they can be surprisingly resilient.

Lootas are always good as fire support. Their 48" range should cover the width of the table and a lot of the diagonals as well. Just plop in the middle of the deployment zone, in cover, and rain fire on light vehicles.

Tankbustas are pretty good in a battlewagon, but their "Glory Hogs" trait can backfire at times. They'll usually do their job, however, against IG lists.
