Subject: Apocalypse Question

I took a couple year break from 40k, and now I see that there is an Apocalypse book out. I saw the datasheets on the GW website, but it seems that the superheavy tanks of the IG are much more powerful with Apocalyptic templates as well as what seems like less points. I know the Apocalypse games are for just huge games, but are these points and rules now legal for "normal" games? In other words, do the points in Apocalypse rule over the previous points and rules?

Nope! Apocalypse formations have a points cost for the rules, and you still have to pay the points for the models comprising said formation.

Many thanks for the quick reply. What I'm really confused about is it seems that in the Apoc book, the Baneblade is 500 points where in Imperial Armor Vol I, it has a points value of 634 points and seems much less powered, smaller templates, ect. I still don't seem to get it.

Publishing dates.
When Imperial Armour volume 1 was first released, Baneblades were far far more powerful(but still overpriced) and the game was in another edition.
But Apocalypse has changed that entirely.

The term "Legal " is funny when it's put in the same conversation as Apocalypse.
There is nothing keeping you from playing games with those tanks, if you and your opponent agree.
The issues going to come up though, when that particular tank just owns the board. I've seen that tank personally, remove a couple squad and a rhino flanking manuver with a barrage.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Thank you all for your help. The main reason that I'm asking this question is that a friend of mine and I are starting a 10,000 point campaign, and I was interested in using superheavys. In fact, I already have an armorcast Shadowsword and Baneblade, just bought 2 more Baneblades to make a Stormhammer, and another Shadowsword from GW. I just wanted to make sure my opponent didn't get shafted when it came to me using said units.

If you download the IA1 update from the forgeworld website it has updated rules and points costs.
