I've always wanted some kind of heretical Imperial Guard army and the idea of using Termagaunts and Hormagaunts to represent mutants.
How do you think this would go?
Would you allow me to use an army like this against you?
I was thinking of using:
Gaunts as Humans
Fleshborers as Shotguns
Spike Rifles as Las/Auto-Carbines
Spinefists as Pistols
Deathspitters as Heavy Stubbers (for Warriors as Big Mutants)
A Prime as a Mutant Leader
Zoanthropes as Renegade/Mutant/Alpha Psykers
Genestealers as "Witch-kin" from Dark Heresy.
Any other ideas?

Maddening Mutant Boss of Chaos
|
Tervigons as Flatbed Trucks (that mutants continuously hop out of i.e. spawn Termagants)
Hive Guard as Sentinels
Carnifexes as 'Uge Muties (have to custom make)
Warriors as Big Muties (using Ogryns)

This sounds like an awesome idea. I'm using the tyanid codex to field genestealer cultist models. All my opponents have loved playing against it.
Mycetic Spores as Hidden sewer exits (Ive built two rough ones, check the link in my sig)
Terrorfex as liberated IG-tank
Spore mines as suicide bombers
In general: as long as the base is the right size, the model is roughly the right height and width and none of the counts-as feels completely silly I think most any gamer would enjoy playing against a lovingly and creativly converted army.
Just make sure to do a painting and modelling blog about it :-)

I have a little problem with proxying vehicles as Monstrous Creatures and Infantry but the other ideas are quite good for the army.
I'll be sure to may a blog when I order all the pieces in to my FLGS.

I just played against Genestealer Cult as Nids, with various flavors of Cultists standing in for Gaunt-class models. Tervigons were busses that unloaded more Cultists.

Awesome. Do you know if that player has got some pics of his models to look at on the internet? If not, do you think you could push her/him to publish some here on dakka? I'd love to see some.

There is nothing wrong with this at all. As long as you stick to ONE codex, then anything can be what ever you want, as long as you are consistant to what is what.

No pics that I'm aware of. The busses are about the size of Chimeras. The infantry is mostly RT-era GSC stuff, with some Catachan-based conversions for Hybrids. Classic.

I'd generally agree, tho it's good when things are more or less WYSIWYG, and you don't have ordinary humans proxying for Necrons or something like that.

Just make sure your models are big enough, with LoS and all.

Dude, where in Uppsala do you play? I have to see/play against that army some day.

I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas about proxies?
Venomthropes? Harpies?
Any ideas?

I love the madness of this Idea. Go for it. Sounds great.
How about Venomthrope = 2 troopers with a poison gas spewing flamer.
Harpy = Some sort of reptilian winged humanoid mutant. Maybe a conversion from lizardmen?

Oh, sweet. A new opponent!
I usually play at the RP-club at the SLU-university (a.k.a. URK - Ultuna RollspelsKlubb)
At the moment my stealer cult army is undergoing serious renovation work, but I think it is mostly playable, sort of... You know what, I'll just send you a PM and stop cluttering this thread :-)
