Me and a few traders have a question for you paypal users!

If im not mistaken , money sent via Gift will not have fees taken out from them.

But , Goods or Services , while charging some fee , it gives the buyer some protection.

Now our question is , how much % does paypal charge ?

Thanks!

It charges either way. If you send money as a gift it charges the sender. If you send money for goods or services it charges the receiver.

5 or 6 % is what they charge iirc

Which is why I dropped my Paypal account. It was awesome when it first started, but once Ebay bought the company...

So Ebay get's your fees for listing/final value, and get's you again when you use paypal.

No thanks. I'll just keep paying Taxes. It's cheaper and goes to support my local government/FLGS.

IIRC, PayPal charges the Seller to protect the Buyer.

I think it was only like 2.something% when I used it here recently. It's an extra 1% for international transfers, or if it has to change currency, or I forget how that worked exactly. I'm rather sure it was less than 5% total however.

I know it really isnt my concern when the buyer is willing to pay me extra to off set the service fee been taken from a payment. But i just really feel so bad that the discount i gave is eaten just like that -_-

From to be safe point of view , its ok .

But from my point of view that i know its not needed , it just feels like a waste of $8

I guess you could check out the paypal site and find out what the charges actually are... Their fees are on there you know.

I use Payapl and have to refer to them from time time to see how much I am being screwed.

That will work as long as you never pay for anything with a debit/credit card. The Credit Card companies charge the retailer about the same for the service so either way 2~3% is gone.

Cash only, baby!

There's a reason Credit Card Companies have "weathered" the recession...
