If there is one thing I really truly love about 40K it's having walkers, and upon wandering down to the local GW to see the new Ven Dread in person, I instead spent like 30 minutes staring at the new Killa Kans and Deff Dreads... and, well, I've always wanted an excuse to buy that FW Mega Dread... so here goes a list I've been thinking of.

HQ - 220
2x Big Mek w/ Power Klaw, Warbike, Cybork Body
110 ea

Elites - 450
3x 10x Lootas
150 ea

Troops - 307
2x Deff Dread w/ 4x CC Arms, Grot Riggers, Armoured Plates
120 ea

Grot Mob - 67 w/ 19 Grots + Runtherd

FA - 0

Hvy Sup - 515

2x 3x Killa Kans w/ Rokkit Launchas
150 ea

Mega Dread w/ TL Kannon, Grot Riggas
215

1492 Total

Was thinking either 3 Rokkit... or maybe 2x Rokkit and a Grot Launcher in those Kan Squadrons. Couple of things, I know it probably isn't the most highly competitive or effective list and also I'll, obviously, have some massive issues holding objectives with just the "Please don't shoot us!" Grot mob. Mostly it's the elites I wonder about... mostly, because of Dawn of War 2 I've become very found of Blood Axe Kommandos... but don't think I've ever seen an Ork using them. Are the Lootas just that required to make up a long range shooting contingent or the Kommandos just that bad?

Kommandos aren't bad! Anyone who says that isn't thinking clearly. Kommandos will always be the best one-trick pony in the game. Add Snikrot and come in behind your opponent's objective, and you get one instant KP or one squad down. In your list, which seems a little slow, it might be useful.

My list isn't slow... my Orks just, uh... take their time in getting there! They're enjoying the breeze or some such...

However, I do kind of see the point, so maybe drop the Loota's to 9 in size, and replace the third with like 7x Kommands (2 w/ Burnas) + Snikrot (Should be 185 pts, IIRC) and bring my total points up to 1497.

Edit to add:

I also just realised a disturbing lack of KFF on my Mekboys... which is, well, unfortunate. I'm thinking dropping their Cybork Bodies, all the Grot Riggers, and (sadly) the Grot Mob (And here I was hoping to use them all these years after 2nd Ed...) since that shall shave enough points for both fields or scrapping the Kommandos (Again, sadly) entirely and adding the 2 KFF and probably another squad of Grots (Which would be fun).

I'd try and make room for some deth koptas with rokkits. They fit perfectly with the theme, are easy to get and are very useful. Plus they give you some much needed mobility.

As far as securing objectives goes maybe switch some lootas for boyz mobs lead by nobs that look like meks.
