Not where I should be

Thanks everyone, really appreciate it.

@ Vik Thanks much and noted and when I have a bunch of the pieces together I am going to work on the ground effects.

In the mean time...

Cut up a bunch of laminate flooring, bought this ages ago dirt cheap in hardware store for £1 a pack as it was the end of a line and only a couple boxes worth, cuts easy enough with a utility knife but I used a circular saw on this occasion.

Than got to cutting out some foam for the exterior walls...

Then have put on the brickwork pattern...

And started to build, ....
The walls will not remain so intact and will no doubt be shorter, the idea here is a ruined church type thing, going to do the four corners so it can be laid out in different formations.

Well only a brief note tonight, thank you all for your wonderful support.

Brief note....built a church...

Did you make a tool for the brickwork? Or did you do each line by hand?

Exactly my thoughts... even for the cutting up the boards I would have needed a fortnight...

The "fountain" is looking particularly disgusting. Perfect for a Nurgle backdrop. The windmill is simply amazing. It turned out beautifully.

You do a better job laying a model floor than I do a real one!

That church may well become my new favourite..

Considering how cool the floors and walls of this church look already, I'm keen to see how the rest pans out.

Looking great!

Window molds... very convenient. Also, cheating.

Now here is where I give you a hard time about building ruins instead of intact buildings.

Okay, that's done. You can atone by building an intact village. Yup. That'll do it.

Oh yeah, the windmill. It's fantastic. I'm blown away by it.

It really is a great terrain piece. I do like the idea of animated terrain.

Thank you all.

Afraid not up for long replies at mo, had a slight slip with a wall piece and a lot of hot glue, so progress is a bit slower tonight.

Got 2nd quarter started...

Threw together a roof section...

Sorry not replying properly to comments, they are wonderful and really help me, but typing hurts a bit.

Thank you for looking and thoughts are always appreciated.

So this town is a war torn one I take it as so far, no buildings look as though they escaped damage, makes for a characterful bit of terrain. Liking the broken stone pillar.

Nice looking church, but the neighborhood seams a bit rough. Might want to send that big red dragon packing if you don't want to see your insurance premiums go up.

Sadly this looks like a few of the catholic churches I've been to here in the past few years. The budgets are strained because more people are leaving and going to more modern churches. The trivia night we did a few weeks ago was prime example of it, with sinks that were all the rage in the 1950s being the newest and best part of the facility.

Oh....that bandaged arm makes me worry for you...i hope everything heals up a treat real quick...are you now at least staying sick at home?

The church looks simply lovely? And the more I watch your work on this progress the urge to Nick the methods and such a project intensifies...

Thank you all.

Big thank you for the well wishes, it smarts like a sob, but I will live I guess. My beloved is a tad worried and fussing alot, I am all "pass the glue gun!"

@ Theo, It is one of the things that bugs me most about the enlightened times we live in, whether you are a religious person or not, the good solid values that our world is built on are in these stones, and is it not a statement to say we have let those foundations rot!

So a little more progress, wish it would go a little faster.

Can't wait to get paint on it, just 1 quarter left to do and the roof for this end, brain is already brewing up for the next few pieces.

Thanks for looking folks and all comments are most gratefully recieved.

At first I though the red marks in this photo was a bent up folding chair , i wouldn't put it past you to build a few dozen of them.

The little room you built on the side looks identical to our area behind the pulpit at our church, ours just wraps around the entire back of the sanctuary, but the piece on the wall inside it is a dead ringer for our fluorescent light kits back their.

This thread bullies me too often to use words like amazingly or beautiful...man for once I would like to see you built something that makes it possible for us to say you made rubbish...but I can't see that in any possible future timeline...

I dunno if it ever has been said before, and since you don't watch tv shows or play video games like the rest of the nerd crew here...it is a miracle to me where you draw inspiration for your expertly and almost 1:1 fitting transition and execution of sour works...?

Hey Cam, I'm sure you've mentioned it before but how do you paint your foam? Aerosols will dissolve it... so do you brush paint it or treat it in some way so that you can use spray?

Not where I should be

Thanks all.

Just a quick reply for Gits.

I will give a step by step when I do it. But basically mix up some paint and brush it on, usually add a little PVA to the mix. You can rattle can it after that. But I don't bother, bit hard to describe, but I "wash" the stone work, blending wet paints and generally make a mess.

You can just spray it, but you will get some shrinking and a nice texture, I believe it is the propellant that does the melting, I have got descent results from spraying at a distance.

Hope that helps.
