Hi,
Does anyone know of a good alternative to the Blood Red primer/spray that GW sold a while ago, that is available in Canada?
Cheers!

It's currently out of stock, but Army Painter is finally opening its own webstore this Saturday.

So you'll probably be able to get it via www.thearmypainter.com

I've never heard of that brand. How well will it work on bare plastic?

Pretty dang well, actually. I cheat and use a "Fine Surface Primer" in grey from Tamiya to ensure that no detail is lost and for a better coverage though.

I've had a can last me as long as a year after spray priming an entire 120 model army. Can't give you an "exact" number, since I don't have any right now. I'd assume the website says it somewhere though.

That sounds very promising. I'll have to pick up a can, and try it out. Thanks for the help!

I use army painter spray primers, they come in a 400ml can. I've personally found them a lot easier to use than the GW product being affected less by low temperatures. For the reds Army painter do two coloured primers Dragon red or Pure red. Dragon red is a darker red while the Pure red is somewhere akin to GW Blood red.

Sorry, but how does the army painter Dragon Red paint compare to the standard GW colors? Is it similar to scab red?

Just buy one and use it? I mean, it´s a prime colour so you´ll probably layer some red over aint you?

I use oilcolours with airbrush - best "primer" you can get for ya bucks.

Dragon Red is the color of the Mechandrite Red from the Foundation range. It's far more useful if you're doing a large Khorne Guard army or Red Corsairs.

It is easier to paint red over red, though, so a thin layer of blood red over the primer would give a much better effect than doing it over black or white. And you can use it as one of the tones and just highlight and shade over the top.
