I am looking for a round-shield style bit for my SW Wolf Lord in Terminator armor that has a smooth face so the Great Company's symbol can be painted on it. Because it's a SW model, obviously a Viking style shield would be perfect. I don't mind a patterned edge, but I just need a smooth middle for emblem. Haven't had much luck in my search... anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

You could use a small flat metal file, or an emery board / nail file / fine grade sandpaper to smooth down the details of the shield.

If you're really steady handed you can shave the plastic detailing off the storm shields with a sharp hobby knife.

If it's stupid & it works, it's not stupid.

It seems like there is no getting around breaking out the greenstuff. You're going to have to use a combat shield or a storm shield, file it down and round it out a bit, and then build it back up with greenstuff.

Use a tau drone and greenstuff in the lines. Big, tech on the backside , and easy to get smooth .

Alternatively, some marauders shields may be good? Failing that, the very old round shields ('94-'95) were flat in the middle.

I could be mistaken, but wasn't the shield that Dwarf King Alrik stands on a separate bit?

It's not smooth, but it's all Norse-y.

Or leave the lines, for more of a techy look:

Another alternative, if you can find one, is the bolter cupola from the old rhino kit:

Thanks for the suggestions all. I did see that round shield from CHS, and it's very much what I have in mind (with a little filing in the middle), but that note about it appearing too small for terminator armor has me a bit undecided.

Hasslefree miniatures sell packs of greek-style shields which look very nice on a marine, saw a CSM army all done with them and it looked very cool, the theme was a classical greek play.

Chaos Warrior shields from WHFB.

Its very simple to simply slice/scrape/shave the icons off of the shields, you get 12+ to a box, and you end up with some awesome models to convert, and some lovely hand weapons for power armored wolf guard etc.

I've done it for my power Armorerd Wolf Guard - they look lovely.

Go to a craft or fabric store and look through the buttons. All shapes, sizes, holes, smooth, with or without rounded lip borders. Worst case scenario you'll have to clip the nub off the back where it's threaded onto a garment or fill some buttonholes with greenstuff.
