I think someone doesn't like me as I get votes like this a lot But seriously, I know I'm not the best painter in the world but why has this been given 1:1?

Could just be someone skimming through the gallery and clicking 1 - 1 just to get to the next picture? It's definitely nowhere near that bad.

Thats bad voting, the model is actually quite nice.

Everyone who puts up pictures will get this occasionally. Some people wil mark you down because it makes them feel better about their own stuff, others just have an stupidly unrealistic idea of how to rate models.

Yeah mate, I would ignore that score. Model is nicely painted and based too, so as the previous 2 people said it could be intentional or accidental but definitely not based on merit !!

If I was going to deduct points for anything it would only be the lack of text on the seals and scrollwork, but that would only be a -1 point deal at most . Even without the text, there's nothing wrong with the result that I can see, so as 4M2A said "that's bad voting".

I'd ignore the scores, you have nothing to be unhappy about with your mini so screw-'em if they can't score fairly

People will just click stuff at random sometimes. You really can't put much stock in the numbers until you have collected a reasonable number of votes and the silly ones start to average out.

maybe it was someone gettiung so excited by the model they thought, "I'd like to give that one!"

otherwise take it to mean it is that good, you deserve first class honours

Don't worry about it, it happens. Some peopel seem to enjoy rating stuff down, that's all. If you wait for a bit, it'll correct itself once you get more votes. Once in a while, someone starts a 'vote this pic up' thread, so if you feel really insulted, toss in a pic there.

If there is just one vote or it was a vote and comment then yes, you will see the values.

The double one could be :

-mistake , like 1 is best and 10 is worst
-willfully negative
-the common nonsense like scores for painting at unpainted WIP pics.

And i am fascinated when people give painting scores to an army photo , taken 3-4 metres away of those little 28mm figs.

Ive learned quick, that some people vote from their asses. In my galleries, Ive got some of my best painted stuff with really low votes, while WIPs have had really GOOD votes. Or my fav is the same mini, with just a different angle getting a HUGE score difference. Its weird but just ignore it until the average starts working out.

Well, I'm not crazy about the purple on the shoulders, but that mini is nowhere NEAR a 1, mate. It's a solid job - good, even.

it's not a 1/1 anymore. unfortunately, people are just stupid and mean and will just put low scores to more onto the next picture instead of actually evaluating the pic. the opposite also happens and people rate their own really crappy pics a 10/10. it's a side effect of the anonymity of dakka gallery voting.

This is also part of the problem (no offense intended to OoieGoie though): people will rate 'average' differently. I give an average model a 6-7. Why? Because it leaves more room to encourage people and I want this forum to be a positive place. This, way anything from 8-10 is better then average. I don't give it a 5 because 1) it's not slap-bang in the middle mathematically, and 2) in Belgium you can't even pass at uni with that grade, hence, the 6 (which is passing barely). For the record: a 5 with me is a mini with neat painting, basic highlighting/shading, and a finished base. If it's a WIP, I'll focus on neatness or the finished part.
So for me, a 5 means 'subpar', while to OoieGoie it means 'average'. People giving 1-1 are a different story though.

Other than being a tad out of focus, I see nothing wrong or bad about it. Looks a bit Slaaneshie with the coloring.

Its better than most of my stuff, which in my book puts it in the above average catagory. So paint atleast a 6.. cool..... I like that the model is actually looking in the same direction the gun is pointed..... 6/7

Thanks for all the cudos I used to get double zeros a lot as well so it actually means a lot I really didn't expect to get so many good votes, and cheers for going through my gallery; I'd stopped putting stuff up a while ago because all I got was double zeros and only just started putting pics up again.

Seriously that initial 1:1 had to have been an outlier, by which I mean a weird value not representative of the true state of reality. Its just flat out not a valid score. The reasons are irrelevant. It just sucks that it skews the whole perception on how the model is received.

When I vote, I consider tabletop (5) to be at least 3 color, trying to be in the lines, and based. Like CommisarKhaine, I want to encourage better painting, so I vote 6-7 for someone showing some skill (drybrushing, washes, high lining). 8-10 is for when the painter is reaching the next level (blending, source lighting, freehand, etc), and all the way up to jaw dropping perfection of 10.

I give very few 10s. More 9s, but they are still hard to earn from me. I give lots of 6-8. People are going to post their best, so positive encouragement is deserved. Your model is nicely done, though I agree the photo is a bit out of focus. It is hard to assess the techniques used. From this shot, I'd give 7 paint.

"Coolness" to me encompasses the whole deal: conversions, color selection (vs. painting technique), photo quality, photo composition... basically my gut response on viewing the picture. For me coolness would be 7-8 because you put him in a scene.

I wouldn't worry bout it, I get alot of bad votes on my stuff too and none of it is down that low. Personally that model of yours is 6-6 at least. There are just people out there that want you to feel like gak basically. I saw Golden Daemon worthy models getting 7's and 8's.

so many pepole vote base if it looks like the GW model....and thus confuses them.....kind of like a deer in head lights................so take no worries on the vote...i have models that go from 7 to 2.5 and then back up again

but as many have replied.....you did well i give it 6 & 6

Come on, don't hold back! Tell us how you really feel.

Someone probably saw a slayer-sword quality scratchbuilt titan or similar, then saw your image next. I'd say the painting is a high 5, but I'd rate coolness low too because I hate blurry pics.
