An 1850 army built around

6 squads of 10 deep striking Blood Angel Assault marines. Go 2 meltas and a fist in 3 units and 2 flamers and a Fist in the other 3.

3 Sanguanary priests. (gives 6' FNP and furious charge and can drop with assault squads)

2 Librarians (can Blood angel Libbies get jump packs?)

Total Cost around 1850 or so.

I love the idea of a jump troop army.

Just as a general Idea, do you think it's viable?

Yes it is viable, but without all the deep striking. The JP will let you keep out of sight and leap over terrain until you can get your shots off, and then you will still be able to charge.

If you DS and shoot the bolt pistols don't do much so its two shots and then you get shot and charged instead.

With the new FNP addition it could be really excellent!!

Look at hat foot eldar list by Blackmoor---the regularly mediocre troops are seriously dangerous when benefiting from the Eldrad/Avatar bonuses. I think the same thing would be necessary for this list. The librarians might be able to help out but you'd really need to pick your HQs carefully to get the best benefits, and we don't know much about the new HQ's yet, unless you have read to codex, which I haven't, because I live out i the middle of no where....

But I'm a big supporter of this idea.

The only thing I would consider is putting a PW in a squad or 2. That way you have the high initiative hits. Other than that it looks interesting.

i played the first 5th edition BA, and i had a assault marine army, it was only for 1.5k but i found the best thing today is to put them all on the board first. Because, if you deep strike them, you will not be able to assault, and you will be a sitting duck... So, i had 4 squads of 10 man assault squads, with power fist. Then i had preditor with all lascannons... But anyways, i found that the best way to get them stuck in is to put them on the board

An IG list with inquisitor, mystics + executioner would have a field day with an infantry deepstrike list, but it could be cool.

Gwar: I'm going to quit while I can.

Meh, close enough

This list is very doable and fun. I used to run a list just like that in the last edition and plan on running one again with this. I would not DS and just use the terrain to mask their movments. You might want to think about melta-bombs on the Sgt's for some of the harder targets.

Sanguinary guard might be fun, with articifer armor and master crafted weapons. Take them with dante as troops, with some of the other stuff you mentioned, and it could be fun.

This kind of army is fun to watch on the field. Land raiders can kill you if not engaged. It is fun to watch Dante swat land speeders like you would swat a bug.

I like this idea, but there's no reason necessarily that it should be restricted to BA. Any chapter could do it and bang a couple of chaplains in there to reroll misses on the charge.

I suppose the big advantage BA would have is the FNP unit, but I haven't seen the codex.

Overall though, I think it'd be interesting indeed!

Well, considering that the only army that brings assault troops as "Troops" is a blood angel list, I'd say that would be an impressive trick for any other army to pull off.

Not many 60+ assault marine ULTRAMARINE armies out there......

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!
