what happens if a walker such as a dreadnaught attacks a DF with these on them?

The FC only gives a way to wound models with a toughness. So the FC is generally useless against them. Still worth taking for the orks and nids however!

No. Cover saves may not be taken in the Assault phase at all.

Sorry! I wasn't intending to be rude or sound "mean". I was just trying to say "No, because the rules say cover saves may not be taken against wounds inflicted in the Assault Phase". It may happen before attacks are swung, but it's still the assault phase

Well, since this question seems answered, here is another one:

What happens if I charge a unit of Pirahnas all with flachette launchers? Do they roll a dice for every pirahna in the unit? So in other words a unit of 3 rolls 3d6 for each of my models? And if yes, do I roll 30 dice for 10 guys or 3d6 per guy?

Shimmershield is an invulnerable, as are Harlequin Holo-suits.

In all fairness, I suspect you were thinking of Gav Thorpe's Harlequin "Fandex", where Holo-suits were a 4+ Cover save that did work in Close Combat.

Do you have a page reference for this. Under Taking Saves it says you can't take cover saves for wounds suffered in CC. It doesn't say the assault phase.

Huh, that's what I get for not checking before posting. You sir are correct, you cannot take Cover saves vs Close Combat.

I'd go with "yes" for counting as Close Combat. RAW on that could be beat to death, but I doubt GW defines "Close Combat".
