In my opinion taking five tervigons is not a good option. You will have so many tervigons and termagaunts deployed that once one tervigon dies it will result in a mass death of gaunts.
This is not hard to do in a single turn of shooting.
Also, tervigons are relatively weak monstrous creatures and can be easily tarpitted for the entire game or killed by elite infantry.
The trygon prime would also appear way infront of the rest of the army and get shot at by tons of guns.
Venomthropes are not very strong but are decently pricey and will get picked out quickly.
Overall, the army struggles against armor as the tervigons don't have many attacks.

The new tyranids codex is more about finding the units which complements each other rather than spamming one or two units.

this list is purly for the horde. venom thropes would hide behind the tervigons. tervigons i dont give a crap of how much they kill when they fall

The problem with the horde is that it won't be able to deal with strong armor such as Lemans which will blast your horde without any threats.

I think this army could do OK if you are aggressive with the Tervigons.

Deploy the Tervigons in front of the gaunts and Trygon to give them all cover. Then bee-line the Tervigons to enemy transports. The Trygon can go after bigger tanks. The gaunts clean up the troops.

When a Tervigon gets wounded move it behind another Tervigon for 4+ cover :]

There will of course be horrible losses... not sure how it will fare in kill point missions.

drop the vennom thropes. You're going to have too many gants to benefit from their terrain benefit and a 5+ cover isnt all that great. Drop all the gants to 10 man. You will NEVER need that many gants on the field. Grab 2 units of zoanthropes in pods. Great anti tank especially since you have very little chance of killing a raider and no model in your army can even hurt a monolith.

Run your trygons naked. if anything adrenal galnds but they arent necessary. Use your left over points to grab another trygon.

You may auto lose in KP's against mech. But other than that you should do great.

3 tervigons are good enough. 5 is not effective.

You are in extremely lack of Anti-Tank shooting.

If you insist on taking 4 or 5...that means you want max T6 wounds. So minimium gaunts units, and add hiveguards or tyrannofexes.

wondering how many models would be efficiant to make this list.

Correct me if my math is wrong but I think the tervigon has a 50% chance of rolling a double and not being able to produce more gaunts.

An average dice roll is 3.5 so with 3 dice on average you should get 10.5 gaunts each time.

With 5 tervigons and on average 2 spawns of 10.5 gaunts each time results in 105 spawned gaunts.

Hope this helps!

3 Max, 2 preferred. I have seen the math tables that show that each will produce about 23 models over the course of the game.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.
