War Walker Pilot with Withering Fire

Yo all!
I am having a big question about the way the monolith deep strikes
Does it drop from a high altitude and start floating near the ground or does it pop out of the ground and start
Floating?
Thanks for reading

I always picture it floating down and crushing that one guy verrrrrrry slowly so he feels it happening but at the same time can't do anything about it so he starts shouting for people to help him but everyone is too captivated, like watching a car accident about to happen.

They fly around after fully emerging from the ground. You see it in Dawn of War.
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

1.) Dawn of war is not to be taken as official fluff. ( GW licensed Warhammer to relic/THQ who did the story)
2.) There were already monoliths on the planet IIRC.
So if the planet is a dormant tomb world yes monoliths may emerge from the ground. However if it is not then they teleport in.

Iggy, careful with the direct codex quotes. GW's law-daemons of justican chaos god of Intellectual Property will eventually take notice.
Simply: Avoid direct quotes, GW lawyers no-like. Rather you could say "Necron Codex, pg. 21"

He is right though. They teleport down to the surface. They do indeed have some on the planet, but it's more rare for that to be the case unless it is a tomb world.

Yes he's right, but to directly quote the codex is infringing upon GW's copyright & IP. So it's just safer to paraphrase.

Yea I know, I remember it was stated somewhere & Gwar! reminded me a few times. 99% of the time it's perfectly fine & no one will care but I just like to play it safe.

Now that's interesting. I always took that quote to mean they teleported UP to the surface, from their resting places deep within the bowels of the tomb world in question.

And if they aren't on a tomb world?

The Necrons have ships. They're amazingly large and can land on a planet's surface, or get incredibly too close, and still take off. They're larger than Astartes Battle barges and those can't land without staying grounded.
They don't use the warp, just like everything else Necron. They merely travel faster than anything can fathom through realspace and cross between systems like so. These puppies are filled with Necrons. When they get to a planet, they teleport down the Monoliths. The Monoliths then act as a warp gate for the other 'Crons inside.
How else could the Necrons eat through a whole galaxy? The tomb worlds are ones they stayed on since they were highly likely to grow life once more.
