Big Boss Grizznit here.
Dis iz me first post. Hope you like it.
Ok so my friends and I had a discussion about the subject and we wondered what others thought.
And the question is what do you think are the best 5 points of wargear in the 40k universe. And by best we mean the most effective for its points cost. For vehicles or tanks or whatever you think. Heck it could be a psychic power if you want.
Personally I believe that it is the Tau disruption pods for their vehicles under 5th edition rules. a 4+ save against anything shot from over 12" away is awfully nice for such a low point cost.
Thats my opinion WHATS YOURS?

While not technically wargear, upgrading a horror of Tzeentch to the Changeling is only 5 points.
For that, once per turn, he can point at any enemy unit he can see (within 24") and give them the choice of either: a) not firing, or b) making a LD test. If the unit blows their LD test, the changeling gets to decide where & what they fire.
Beyond the obvious, "ha-ha-you-just-blew-up-your-own-landraider," trick, this can seriously screw up your opponent's assault phase (since you can only assault the unit you shot at).

If I can count a 2 point Auspex as 2.5 times it's effect (as in I get 2 have 2-3 units that ward off infiltrators) then I vote that, otherwise it's OK but not the best.
The Mystic ( DH Imperial Henchman) is a sorry 6 points, making him that 1 point out of being a candidate, otherwise he would be my personal clear first. In 5th with several armies being so reliant on at least one (sometimes all) of their units deep striking, having a Mystic or 3 makes their game plan a lot harder
Book of St. Lucius is pretty damn amazing, sure it doesn't grant fearless, but it's one of the main reasons for using SoB allies in a guard army. Unfortunately I would probably have to concede it to your aforementioned Disruption Pods... Arguably WAY too cheap for what they do (most Tau players I know say they would buy them for 20+ points, and most IG players say they would gladly swap rules for their 'crappy' camo netting).

I would say either a guard flamer or a SW melta gun for tied second but first for me is the humble vox caster. Simply because of how I play my guard because it can practically assure my squad getting 60 lasgun shots rather than 40. Big step up.

Yeah, and in nob units, or nob biker units. The bosspole has turned a lot of defeats into victories for me, it's a great piece of kit.

Dual Meltaguns for 5 points is a hot contender, as is the Bosspole, but I have to give the crown to the Disruption Pod.
