The BA Dread gets a Magna Grapple, so if you penetrate you pull the vehicle in, but do you roll on the vehicle damage table as well?

And does the pulled vehicle cause a tank shock to units if it crosses them? Would that TS be to friendly units (the BA players) or enemy, or both as a compulsory movement?

Don't think so. Of course, the vehicle is now decidedly closer to you, so you'd likely be able to assault it next phase.

It does tank shock enemy units, not sure about friendly.

I think the 'mag hook' is absurd and ridiculous. These questions only prove to solidify that.

The Weapon is still a shooting attack, and they reference the fact it still can destroy a vehicle by stating : "If the vehicle is not destroyed..." - see *Grapple Mechanic

You're not rolling to penetrate it again, you're essentially generating an "Armor Check" as a means of determining if your dreadnought has succeeded in reeling it in.

Edit - Also, the grapple will tank shock friendly units. The description nowhere states your own units are safe.

GET OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-That is what the Grapple sounds like to me...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

You will be stuffed as Tank Shocks and Rams require you to do it "instead of moving normally" - like star engines, being pulled in by a rabid Dreadnought is NOT moving normally!

Does that movement count for the numbe rto hit in Close combat?

2 questions:

Can a BA dreadnought pull the vehicle into itself if it rolls enough movement therefore generating a ram hit?

If so...

If a BA dreadnought magna grapples an Ork battlewagon with a deff rolla into itself, does it take d6 strength 10 hits?

It says in the entry itself being dragged causes tank shocks, champ.

LOL I just thought about something. If a Dread pulled a vehicle PAST itself by rolling more distance than the distance between it and the vehicle, would it ram the Dread?

I don't have specific rules but the thought of it possibly killing the Dread is possibly LOL-worthy.

This is covered in the rules. In short, no.

You know, if you end up within 18 inches of a DEATH COMPANY dreadnought, you deserve to lose your vehicle honestly.

Which is of course, 1 per every 5 death company in your army. The maximum amount of expensive dreads is 6.

People are such whiners. Do you want Warhammer to remain a shoot, charge, deepstrike game forever or actually want some varied mechanics?

And no, the grapple mechanic has restrictions that are in the book. Wait for the god-damned thing to be released before you all start nerd-raging about a rule you don't even know??

Actually, the most Death Company Dreads you can take is 5, as you only have 6 Troops Slots, and the Death Company take up one of those. Add to that the three Elite Furiosos, and you can have up to 8 Magna Grapples.

And hey, guess what, I have the codex already, I know the Magna Grapple Rules, and nothing prevents multiple Grapples a turn. Yes, it is going to be hard to reel in AV 13+, but with 8 of them, chances are you will get at least 18" of movement.

Which reminds me of a question I have to add to my FAQ, so Thank you I guess.

I'd be laughing my ass off at the little dreadnought pulling my monolith to him, like a man pulling something far bigger and instead getting dragged under it.

Well congratulations rules troll. If you did have the book, you'd know that setting up that many dreads is over 1700 points. Good job pulling around some rhinos with that sort of point investment?

It's a neat trick, but it's not La:Sh and it's not game-breaking by any stretch.

I am well aware of the points cost thank you very much. My original post there was slightly Hyperbole, but considering you can get 4 Grapples with only 5 Death Company Models, that's double the "brokenness" of Lash. More when you factor in that Lash can be Psychic Hooded/Runic Staffed, while there is absolutely no defense against magna grapples except gakky rolling.

Why not? Makes sense if you want to have a defense against grapples.

Oh come on. Lash only requires a psychic test and a 2d6 roll of maybe 5 so you can get a unit clumped together at which point you can rain blasty death on them. Psychic hoods are more likely to fail than not (admittedly runic staffs are pretty good but unless you pass up on a land raider to take njal it's still only 50/50). The grapple has to hit (66% chance) and then penetrate (on any vehicle worth hitting: 50% or less) You end up with about a 1 in 3 chance of dragging that vehicle to you and even then you could botch the roll and move it 3 or 4 inches. Additionally, it has no effect on troops so you can't pull a scoring unit off an objective for the end of the game unless they are sitting in the vehicle on the last turn (and they went first). lash allows you to move them off the objective changing a win for your opponent into a loss. finally what's the range on it? 18"?
Sorry but comparing the magna grapple to lash is like comparing a grenade launcher to a lascannon.
