Hello all
I've been off the forums for a good 6months now, maybe more, but I return to you with pics of my somewhat latest work - a LRC and Commander with Jump pack, Relic Blade and SS.
I'd like to thank Grey Death for inspiration on the land raider - I wouldn't have got through it otherwise. A note for future reference though, I need an air brush for any vehicles I do next.

Enjoy!

nice work with cool highlighting and shading. do you count the double spear as a relic blade?

The Commanders weapon is a relic blade, yes. It's made from a GK power weapon, combined with the blade of another. The storm shield is plasticard with the banner pole decoration from a command squad forming the winged skull crest.

The commander looks fantastic!

His base, however, looks terrible. Minimally, it needs some ballast, drybrushing, and flocking.

I agree, typically I finished the base with stones but I haven't got around to it yet.
Thanks for the nice responses every one.

The brown basing doesn't really give that much contrast to the models. It's also a flat color. if you just drybrushed the basing with khaki or something similar they could look a lot nicer. Also, I was looking at the side of the tank where there's the little scribbles, aquila and all, and I found two things odd. The eagle head there looks kind of silly, and the big decal number doesn't match the numbers and text already there. I like your painting for the most part (especially on the infantry) but it could use a few more touches to get really good.

Thanks for the feedback!
I know the base has problems - it's not sanded or finished yet but I wanted to get the pics up I plan on finishing it this weekend when I get time.
The Eagle I'm just flat out not happy with but I doubt I'll change it - too many other models to get through. I'm ok with the fact that my freehand isn't astonishing but it at least gets the point across.
After double checking, I don't follow what you mean about the decal not being consistent? All numbers on the LR are 1, as it's the flagship tank of the first division (should I ever get enough models to support a second)

It looks really good, both models. I think what Brother SRM means is that the two 1's on the left side of the LR are different 'fonts', which causes them to clash.

The inconsistency is not that all numbers are 1, but that the decal 1 is in a really different font. You have this very gothic, detailed 1, and then a 1 that looks like it's in Times New Roman or something. One of my best friends is a graphic designer, so typography stuff bugs me now.

Fair enough, I hadn't really thought about that. I'll keep it in mind for future work I do.
The colours, for jetjetex, are scab red base, red gore, blood red all blended. Bones are done starting with Bestial Brown, Snakebite Leather, Bleached Bone, and Skull White. I use Devlan Mud and Gryphonne Sepia washes, and occasionally Badab Black. Sensors are dark angels green/goblin green/skull white, or Regal Blue blended with Skull White
