So as I near the completion of my Fantasy army I have started looking for the other stuff I need, namely a transport case. I found a nice pistol case to suit my purposes but now I need foam.

I looked at battlefoam but I can't help but think they are a rip off. 20+ dollars for something like foam seems a bit extravagant to me. I was wondering if there are cheaper alternatives anywhere on the net? I should probably mention that I am not interested in using the egg crate type foam to store my minis, I want slotted foam.

Should I just suck it up and get the (imo) overpriced battlefoam or is there elsewhere I can get it?

If you have time and an exacto-knife, you can make your own custom foam by using expanded foam from a place like Michaels Crafts or JoAnn Fabric..

I like those KR cases a lot, I'm having trouble with their trays though. I can't figure out which trays I can actually get and also what I actually need.

Since I have a pretty mixed army (I have cavalry, war machines and regular troops). I saw the Dark Elf suggestions but when I use their tray picker tool only 1 of the types suggested are available.

Anyone have experience with KR trays?
