Info: 5250pts per side. Forgeworld was allowed. No super heavies. Each side received 3 strategic assets, no force org as per usual apoc.

Assets:

Chaos: Daemon Bolt, Schedualed Bombardment and Jammers.

Imperial: Vital Objective, Obstacles, Recon.

Table size: 8 x 4

no man's land: 24 inches


Setting up was a bit awkward, we(imperials) weren't allowed to talk or discuss for 5 minutes beforehand. Jammers is a pain the ass. Imperials bid lower and had to set up and go first. The pictures give a better indication of the overall battle than I ever could. A few interesting occurences to note would be the abaddons both rolling 1 about 3 or 4 times, causing them to take a wound and lose their additional attacks. A defiler swatting a vendetta out of the sky then climbing triumphantly on top of the wreckage. A schedualed bombardment wiping out a squad of grey knights entirely and another wiping a platoon command squad off the face of the earth. A primaris psyker juicing the crap out of a daemon prince. A manticore destroying a dreadnought and killing a chaos sorcerer in it's first volley. A lone company commander attempting to powerfist a vindicator only to do nothing and be subsequently lit up by bolters from plague marines. Chaos blowing up not one, but two land raiders in the same turn. Marbo roasting 10 berzerkers with a well placed demolition charge. Snipers actually killing a few plague marines.

In the end imperials held their vital objective but it was not enough. Chaos made a break and contested the other objective we had. Chaos held 4 objectives and won the game.

Good times all around.

Add some captions and this looks like an epic battle. You guys have a nice collection of terrain and what not, great paint jobs awsome action shots. This is just missing some captions.

Very nice look on the whole thing. I'm quite envious of the light you had to photo by. It looks like the sun shining in through the curtains gave very lively colours to everything. Or did you just play with the hue/saturation sliders in photoshop? ;-)

The main light was a hot shoe flash beince bounced off the ceiling. I shot everything in RAW format and then edited each pic in camera raw after to try and keep as much consistency between the shots as possible. I still made some artistic decisions with the color on some, opting for greener grass or yellower grass, flatter contrast on some or more crushed blacks on others.

My hat is off to your photography/editing skills. Those pics really look awesome.

Or, since it's Apoc, you could just use it as a flyer instead of a skimmer, as per one of the WD Apoc articles.

I got it at my local hobby shop. It's tamiya I believe. If you check out the thread there's a pic of the box that might help you narrow it down.

I like that your models were (almost) all painted - it bugs me to play apoc and have people plunk down tons of bare metal. The whole point of apoc is the visual spectacle, IMHO.

We actually have that as a rule for the Apoc games; this game had an exception cause one player had to jump out last minute so one of the Chaos players had to come up with the points with what ever models he had available at his place. So we couldn't really argue; it was that or one of the guard players would have to drop .
