I've been playing AC2, and I really like the idea of hidden blade.

quite simply, it is a blade, say for Cap'ns and the like that can be taken as a CCW so they may fight with 2CCW

I was thinking 5 pts and could be taken for the +1 attack at maybe -1 Str.

what is everyones thoughts?

PS: I've not really playtested this, but I think it might be useable.

thoughts?

All marines have combat knives. It is included in their stats. A hidden combat knife would be meaningless. It would not change stats.

I'd still like a model with a made-in knife.

I have to agree with Ph34r here.

If you want your captain to have a laser blade, then tell your opponent. It just counts as a chainsword, no matter how you model it.

I agree, you can easily count-as a hidden knife as digital weapons. Also, it might be a bit harsh, but please actually think for a lengthy period of time, and proofread your work before you post it. I wouldn't be saying this if this was say, your first time, but when I come to the proposed rules section, almost 1/3 of the threads are yours (and most of them also come across as being very thoughtless).

This is no longer true Marines have a bolter and blot pistol as standard the fluff says they all have combat knives but that is not the case in the game or else all marines would have 2 attacks due to having a pistol and a ccw. This is where Chaos marines have an advantage because they have a bolter, ccw and a pistol.

On the OP if I make a comment I am sure I will be told off by a MOD again.

Model it. You now have a SM Cap'n with a CC weapon. No need for any funky new rules for it.

Wait, the Marines in Black Reach comes with Combat Knives, but in their rules it says they have bolt pistols. Anyone know the answer to this?

The models have whatever the model has, or whatever you modelled them to have because you think it's cool, but none of that has any effect on what they are considered to have in-game. In game they have a bolter, allowing them stand still and shoot a round up to 24", or move and rapid fire up to 12". They also have pistols which mean they can shoot a single round each up to 12" before assaulting.

They are not deemed to have knives, whether the models do or not. Chaos Space Marines can do all the same stuff above, but are considered to have two CCWs in assault, giving them an extra attack. Presumably this is because they spend more of their time developing their fighting skills, making them that much more deadly. Loyalists spend that time worshipping the Emperor and working on squad tactics, giving them ATSKNF and Combat Tactics.

It's one of the better bits of design GW has come up with lately.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I like the idea of the model. I have often though of modellign some of retractable combat blade instead of chain sword, it could look cool.

if it were me i woudl model the blade into the gaunlet instead of the chainsword, then give him digital weapons as well. Chuck in a P.Pistol for a bit of punch.

if you are dead set on having multipe CCWs then why not go with 2 of the blades and an aux grenade launcher for firepower on the charge?

Modquisition on.
Here's the part where I say everyone be nice or the banhammer comes out. Insaniak has posted a nice stickie on the topic and there is going to be greater enforcement. They tell me I have to keep my bag limit to three a day though. Fortunately I'm only at one this morning.

Thanks sebster. Seems a bit off though, in the fluff it states they have combat knives, not pistols, and what are they supposed to hit with, their fists?
Cheers!
