Hi guys! this is a page for the long anticipated scout Dreadnought

While I don't have a photo at the current moment, when the legs are dry, I shall supply photos.

This will be from putty buildup to painting, tips will be appreciated!

PS: anyone else making a simmilar model, feel free to put it in here.

SPS: sorry for low-quality of the sculpting, it's my very first model.

I don't think anyone else would do a scout dreadnaught. Scouts are initiats of the space marine chapters and dreadnaught armor is a rare thing. It wouldn't be given to a scout but maybe a scout Sargeant venteran now i think about it.

Linky back to here, Solon. It's just going to come back to haunt you in an infinite loop.

Actually looking forward to seeing this in the flesh. Will everything be putty or are you using some existing parts?

It's perfectly normal to be excited about that fantastic model you just built or painted, and to want to talk about it even if you don't have pictures of it yet.

Others, however, aren't going to be as excited by a description of a model. As such, posts saying “I just finished this awesome model, and it looks like...” generally don't go down well on the forums.

If you can't get pictures until tomorrow, it's probably better to wait until then to post. People then have something that they can comment on beyond “Er... sounds good. Post pics.”

Must admit my first reaction to this was WTF how can there be such a thing as a scout dreadnought but giving it some thought i can conceive of such a thing coming about especially in relation to the likes of the iron hands or one of the chapters concerned with more clandestine operations.

Ill be interested to see some pic's of the dread.

Just think its a bit silly haveing a dreadnaugh which makes a lot of noice with a laud engine on its back being used as a scout, not very inconsicus. I'd like to see pictures to get a better idea of it.

How does a scout dreadnought work then? Isn't he a bit big to go creeping around and hiding behind bushes trying to infiltrate enemy territory?

This is a painting and modeling forum.

While there are not any pictures here yet, please limit discussion to the Painting and Modeling aspects of the... project?

Anyway, feel free to debate the viability of a Scout Dreadnought elsewhere.

And, Captain Solon, please try and get some pictures in here soon, even if they are WIP, or else this thread will probably spiral out of control and be locked.

I'm not sure about the OP but when I started to think about a scout dread and the approach I would take I went down the track of scout = "advanced intelligence gathering unit" the dreadnought would be outfitted with all manner of listening and imaging devices to allowed it to gather intelligence and transmit it back to the main force. I would be tempted to instead of mounting the dreadnought on its normal legs to not fit the standard dread power pack and take a sentinel and chop the cab of and mount the dread nought to where the cab would sit and then possibly replace the sentinel power pack with that of the dread I would then lengthen the normal stumpy dread arms so that it could more easily manoeuvre over uneven terrain.

Another option would be to take just the sarcophagus and turn it into a matrix like sentinel type thing but just have it walk scuttle/walk on the multiple limbs (maybe give it 4 or so thick main limbs as it primary legs) though that's more AdMech than space marine.

Um any way I'm high jacking the OPs thread back to waiting on pics

I think people are being a bit too forward with the fact that he has the word "dreadnought" in the name. Maybe it isn't as big clunky, or heavily armored as a normal dreadnought (similar as to how a scout is to a space marine), but who knows? We need pics NOW

Might also harnes something similar to the scout Stealth cloaks?

How clunky is a dread any ways? Descriptions of them in the books seems to differ from writer to writer and dread to dread the skill of the pilot seems to have a lot of baring on how the dread moves some come across as clunky and plodding while others seem to move with much more grace. So perhaps if a scout captain was interred in a dread he would move with a certain amount of stealth (after time to acclimatised) add in a few modifications like the mentioned scout Stealth cloaks and its a possibility.

P.s please OP for the love of the dark gods and the sanity of my wallet post pic's before im forced to go out and buy dread kits to hash out my half formed suggestions.

I like the train of thought there with "advanced intelligence gathering unit". Though unless you found a way to bulk up sentinal legs I'm unconvinced it would work that well.

A dreads main body is actually pretty big compared to the really thin legs of a sentinal.

and like everyone else, I'm now eager to see some pics of this monstros.... i mean dreadnought

if OP doesnt have actual content to post in it yet.

Here's how I'd model it. You're going to need some GS for the boonie hat, and maybe some GWS trees.

That has got to be the most painful spelling I have seen on Dakka yet..

...but seeing as this is the most painful Painting and Modelling blog I have seen it kind of makes sense.

Honestly "inconsicus"?
