alrighty, im gonna apologize in advance for my incessant tournament questions, but i have a new one. (i recieved some information on the rules for my GT coming up). the rule i have a question with is: you may not use proxys in your army, however conversions are allowed as long as the intended model is clear. (i paraphrazed multiple rules). so what im wondering is this: would my horrors, (basiclly dryads painted pink - check out my WoP blog here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/283978.page for pics) would those be classified as proxys or conversions? as i understand it, a proxy is "this space marine is actually a bloodthirster" etc. wereas a conversion could simply be painting or adjusting a normal model to look like something else. im curious to see peoples reactions to this, as according to the tournament rules, proxy models will not be allowed and disqualified from play. basiclly the GT judges want a WYSIWYG situation, since the last one had some problems in this area.

A conversion should look like the model you are trying to represent, whereas a proxy is *anything* replacing anything else.

Generally the "rule of cool" comes into play - if your army has a good theme going, such that the dryads dont immediately look out of place, then chances are noone will have a problem with it. If you make them look extra tzeentchy, and not really tree like, then I wouldnt have an issue.

Theyre on the right base (if memory all daemons are 25mm bases?) which is a key part gameplay wise.

Conversion you make a model that is a similar shape and size with all appropriate weapons visible.

Proxy you take another model with what ever and say this is X.

A Space Marine could be used as a bloodthirster if it was made bigger (to the size of a bloodthirster) but i would expect some thing like wings to be converted on.
It should also match in with your army (all the daemons were once SM for example)

Darth,

All about context. Took a look at your miniatures, and I would have no problem with it. It's clear what they are, you've put a lot of attention into maintaining a theme, and I think they look quite good to boot. Your heralds look great next to them.

The "no proxy" rule, is likely to prevent the:

"This bloodthirster is actually a keeper of secrets" or "these halbrediers are actually swordsmen". The sort of thing that can confuse an opponent.

If you're still uncertain, send the link to a tournament organizer with your question. I don't think they'll have a problem with it at all.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Not to mention the harmless bottle near your tanks.

By bottle I mean Carnifex of course!!!

Ah, now for the useful part of my post. For most GW sanctioned tournaments a model must be a certain %(I think like 70%) GW products to qualify. So if your using any Privateer Press minis or anything from Rakham Games somebody "could" call you on those. I know 100% green stuff is okay to use but I'm am straight up not awesome enough for that, yet.

Actually the rule tensd to be "majority" GW model, and it must start out as a GW model and be converted from there - so no turning another companies mini into a GW model by adding GW bits, but you can start with a GW mini and go from there.

This is the UK, so YMMV etc...

Those are some very nice pink horrors. If I hadn't known they were dryads, I would never have guessed. I can't see any reason why there would be any problem with you using them.

People at Tournaments aren't out to get you, mate.

They look wonderful, might even double for daemonettes really.
