Hello everybody. Me and my friends have reached an impass. We were talking about the pokemon games and couldn't decide what the first region was. We tried looking on bulbapedia(the pokemon wiki)but they didn't believe me, as anyone could edit and change the answers. So, I come to you fellow dakkaites. Thanks in advance.

Kanto, is obviously the first.

When Poke'mon first started, it was set in Kanto. Johto didn't exist, because no one had thought of it yet.

Thanks. Anyone else who wants to help?

It's Kanto. I know mainly because Silver was the first game I took seriously (I think I did pretty well in Blue afterwards, but meh) and that one was Johto, with the ability to run back through Kanto again.

Also, since I'm now playing HeartGold - whose predecessors Gold and Silver took place after Red/Blue/Yellow - I can easily tell you that Johto is the second region.

the order of the discovery of the different regions of the pokemon world, in relation to the anime/manga/games was:

Kanto
Johto
Hoenn
Sinnoh

this does not include the extra areas such as Fiore or Almia which were included in spin-offs such as Pokemon Ranger.

Locclo, Is HeartGold the game after Diamand/Pearl?

Gold/Silver were my favourite games, so if it's a remake or something, that would rock..

I found the only problem with Silver/Gold is that there is hardly any good places to train, I mean I got a level 100 in about five hours on Pearl..

As the name implies, HG/SS are remakes.

Bollocks.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Well level 100 from around level 50/40... Do exp share into they can beat an Elite Four member's pokemon and just keep doing The Elite Four.

Is that five hours in real life or five hours of play time?
Because it took me around 8 run throughs of the elite four to get my tyranitar
up to level 100, and it had a lucky egg which doubles the exp recieved,
that was around 3 days in real life, but only 4 or 5 game hours, because I didn't play on it solidly.

5 hours play time = 5 hours in real life.

Anyway timeline wise R/B/Y happen at the same time as R/S/E. G/S/C happens around 3 years later with D/P/P starting a tiny bit after it as in towards the end of it. Kanto was first obviously as when it first came out Kanto was the entire world. It had rocks and trees to stop you from falling off the edge into nothingness

didnt they make the new pokemon the ones that you have to actually spend time walking around to earn points on the walker thingy so you can unlock new routes and progress the game?

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

You're thinking of the Pokewalker, and it's very much an optional thing to do if you want or not. Basically, it lets you take your pokemon on walks; the walker tracks your number of steps, and you earn "watts", which allow you to unlock a vending machine and a mini-pokebattle. At the end of the walk (When you put the pokemon back into the cartridge) the pokemon gains a single level.

And @Lord_Loss, yes: HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of Gold and Silver. Which IMO were the best games of the series until now (I know Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald weren't bad, but I still loved Silver/Gold to death). I too had problems training (Heck, I still kinda do) but I think they did tweak the leveling system so you're not forced to basically level one pokemon throughout the entire game, something I did when I played Silver back in the day. Rather than having one level 30 and a bunch of level 5-10s, I've now got everybody at around level 20-25 and headed toward Chuck's gym.

Same I may have started with Blue, but G/S/C was awesome. Battery hasn't died yet so i still have my save from back then on both

Also people saying Johto was first just saying it to be different?

Only in popularity was Johto first, Kanto kind of got spamed a fair bit and gradually made it a fairly dull place to be. Hopefully it's more fun in HG/SS.
