hey, heres my commander I finished yesterday, I would have to say it is my best model yet I put a lot of time into it and I had to make a quick prayer to the emperor before I sprayed it that purity seal wouldn't frost it and it turns out the emperor does indeed protect

Wow! Nice work. Good highlights, and the glow from the Combi-plasma is a nice touch.

My only criticism, because I'm completely anal at times, is that the Deathwatch shoulder pad is always worn on the left side. But that's no detriment to your painting skills.

I really enjoy what you did with the model. I see many painting techniques put to good use.

Great looking work there. I like the glow from the sword that you gave his hand, and also the trimming of the edges look very well done too.

@ Alexiosis - Base looks fine to me, if anything it's the complete antithesis of "busy"

Really nicely done. The main thing I'll add is on the source lighting, you usually want the glow to be more muted than the source. On this model it's pretty much just a bright as the source. Other than that, great job

ahh good advice thanks I'll keep that in mind in the future

Just a question about your choices. Why did you put the crux on the left shoulder and the inquisition symbol on the right? I'm not being critical, I only ask because it's opposite of what the Deathwatch do and otherwise there's is no indicator of your Commander's originating chapter.

As for painting criticism, it may be the photo but your Commander's head seems a little on the reddish side. Have your considered giving a very very dry brush in flesh tones to bring it back to a more flesh like color? Or is the current color by design?

Has the base even been done?

The model is beautiful, one of the best I've seen, but all I see on the base is black "sludge" and some bubbles, which I thought was the purity seal or something.

it's nice to see someone painting their models' faces other colours than white.

to be honest, I didn't even think about what shoulderpads I was giving him when putting it together, but he is from a chapter I made up and the base actually is done, it's just kind of hard to see in the pictures its got a rusty metallic metal plating look, like from aliens

He does need a Chapter Badge somewhere... If you have both shoulderpads detailed, putting it on a kneepad, or painting it onto his cloak are two easy options.
