Hey guys, Ive been painting, well....atleast trying to paint, but my brushes are just not working. They simply will not keep they're point and just are overall bad quality. I would get better stuff, but I just do not know what is "the goodstuff" when it comes to brushes.
Give me the opportunity to show you my brushes, which I had only bought about a month ago, and I've only actually tried to sit down and paint only about 1-2 times. Also I do try my best to keep them in good shape. I even clean them with some brush soap.
Here are the brush tips.
the kind of brushes
and here is the soap I use.
alright so what I am asking of you guys is would you tell me what may be wrong with the brushes I'm using currently.
and also would you please tell me what you guys use, what you guys recommend and also how much they cost, if you know.
thank you guys, I would appreciate to hear from you guys soon.

I really like the new Citadel brushes from GW. They run between $5 and $8 each. I have also heard that the Vallejo brushes are top notch. One suggestion is to NEVER let your paint seep onto the metal part of the brush, that will cause the to fan out. Also rinse your brush often, I rinse mine every 1 to 2 minutes to stop build up. I also change my water after with each color change. Only use cold water as well, hot water will cause them to fan out too.
Hope this helps...

I recommend GW's brushes. Not too expensive and they work pretty well.

I second Windsor and Newton series 7 if you can afford them. Raphael are also good, Laurent Esposito calls them the rolls royce of paintbrushes.

Can I suggest skipping forward 10 years to the age where you don't really care about what people say on the internet. Studies show that it decreases your anger about life in general by 37%. - Flashman |

The GW brushes are great and are good brushes for your buck , these wuill get you through your beginer and well into medium level of paint progress . Once you feel you have mastered your painting skills to the point you notice the GW brush might be holding you back move onto the series 7 these are the cheapist top notch brushes and can be a work horse ( mine last me a very long time with good care ) . Also keep the plastic tube that comes on the tip and store your brush in them when ever you are done you also want the point facing down it keeps the point for a long time this way .

As long as you get brushes made from sable hair and take good care of them (ie. clean them after use), you should do fine.

I prefer any small brush with a fine tip. You can get fairly decent brushes quite cheaply, which is good, because I go through mine rapidly.

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time. |

The best brushes I own are from GW. Especially the fine detail brush is quite useful from time to time.
Right below the GW brushes is the Revell standard line, of cour 0 and 00 only.

I find GW's brushes to be way too big. Even their fine detail brush is huge compared to my standard brushes.
