I am going to be putting together a Kan Wall type army, and I'm not sure what weapon to equip. I already have 3 Kans each with a Big Shoota. How should I arm the other 6? All with Grotzookas? Is the KMB worth it? Is it significantly better than a rokkit launcha? What are your opinions?

I don't think the big shoota is a good option for a kan. It doesn't give you anything that you're not getting elsewhere in the army.

Assuming you're running a kan wall as a shooty army with loota backing, you want to get your higher BS kans to do something your other guns aren't doing.

Whether that is KMB, Rokkits, Grotzookas, or Skorchas is really up to what you expect to see in the metagame. All have their strengths. But S5 big shoota shots aren't getting you anything that your shoota boyz aren't already providing.

The army I ran at Adepticon used six kans. One unit was three with grotzookas, and the other unit was two rokkits and a skorcha. (If the skorcha doesn't look like it will be useful, it's a much cheaper first 'wound' than if you had taken three rokkits, and sometimes the template proves to be the tool you need)

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

I run dreadbash and have been having some success. I recommend rokkits at most normal point levels. Higher point levels, or if there are an extraordinary number of terminator players in your area, the KMB becomes a viable option. I don't recommend the big shoota, since that comes easily with your other units, or the skorcha. I will put skorchas on the deffdreads, but it's a waste of your rare BS3, IMO. The grotzooka is a player choice gun. It's heavy 2, blast, which is nice, but I've never had it do much for me, so I tend to stick with rokkits, especially given the limited ork anti-tank.

The only gun I haven't taken on them is the skorcha. I know everyone has heard this a million times, but if i'm that close... I can handle that infantry unit just by charging them.

big shoota - cheap and long range. This used to be my default choice until the IG codex was released.

grotzookas - i sprinkled these as upgrades to the big shoota with leftover points until the IG codex came out.

rokkits - for competitive games, these became the default choice post-IG codex. This is where my kans start now.

KMB - This upgrade has started to intrigue me, especially since tyranids have come out. It stops feel no pain, kills terminators at least 16% more efficiently, and operates just like a rokkit in all other situations for a mere 5 more points. This gun has been making my friends lists as well...

I guess my advice is, find out what the rest of your list is lacking, and fill that hole with your gun choice. if you plan to fight in very competitive venues, then you'll need ranged anti-light vehicle in at least 6 of your 9 support slots (elite/fast/heavy) as a rule of thumb. Use magnets if money/time is tight, and experiment.

I'm rather partial to sticking to either grotzookas or KMBs. I think stopping termies and FNP are pretty damn good for 5 extra points and no other drawback. And grotzookas are perfect for softening up a unit you're about to assault anyway.

I like to set mine up 2/1 and 1/2 with a third unit of all KMBs

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

100% Rokkits.

Seems like about 50% of people play mechanized IG now. 40% of the rest play mechanized Eldar, Space Marine, or Dark Eldar.

At the bottom of the heap, you've got tyranids and non-meched armies.

You need as much anti-tank as you can get.

Rokkits work just fine against most guys with FnP anyway, such as nobs, flash gitz, and plague marines because they only have T4 so the 8 str rokkit will instant death them. FnP is not allowed against instant death wounds.

You must understand that for an ork a day that starts off killing something with your bare hands, and ends with those same hands being chopped off in battle, is a good one.

What's betta than one choppa? Two choppas!!! Two choppas is one more than...is one times da...IS LOTS MORE FUN!! WAAAAGH!!!

I'm really talking about the feel no pain that nids walk around with all day. They are T6...

Plaguebearers also come to mind...

Rokkits are clearly the default choice, and wont ever really do you wrong.

The grotzooka though can be very nice, I have seen it absolutely demolish IG squads as it rolls 2 to wound and allows no armor save for their default guys.
Wouldn't ever say go all zookas, the Rokkits are that rare BS3 and are solid vs the mass of mech transports seen today.
