So, in the Chaos army book, chaos knights are listed at 40 points, but without the /model designation that you see in other listings (the marauder horsemen, for example). So, I'm assuming that it means one Chaos knight is 40 points.

Now, the listing is also missing the Minimum Unit Size designation. So, I'm assuming I could just run 1 chaos knight, (though I don't know why I would want to).

My confusion comes to play when I'm assembling an army list. I currently have about 2000 points worth of chaos stuff. That means that I can only field 3 special units, and Knights are listed under Special in the army book. So, does that mean I can only run 3 knights in my army of 2k or less? Or is there a minimum unit size I'm missing somewhere?

A 2000 point army allows for 4 special choices - that would be 4 units of Knights if you like.

A 1999 point army would allow for 3 special choices.

The division between 2000 and 1999 is not the literal count of points. When building an army, you chose what points level your aiming for - then select units based on the total. For example, if you and your friend chose to play 2K armies - your list can add up to 1995 and still use 4 special units.

As for the rest. Play the knights as 40 points per figure and 5 figures per unit.

chaos knights are unit size 5+ and 40 points / model. there was a simaler debate since it did not state the "/model" that 5 knights were 40 points.... wich is simply laughable. otherwise above staements are acurate.
