GREAT REPORTS! KHORNEZILLA 4-EVA!

Speaking of bad matchups, a fully mechanized army, and high Initiative MC's are about the worst thing this army can face. Defilers' pitiful WS3 and I3 makes them easy fodder for other MC's or troops with decent WS and high strength attacks.

Polonius' Mech IG gave me quite a headache (read: raped the crap out of me) and Reecius' foot eldar included 3 Wraithlords and an Avatar that wrecked havoc with my walkers. For this reason alone, the two DP's and the GD are essential, as they are heavy hitters that can't be silenced with one shot. Part of learning the in's and out's of this list is finding out what you can charge with what. Dreads/Defilers work well against swarms of troops that would take out a DP/GD with weight of attacks, while DP/GD's are good for walking out in front and absorbing lascannon/melta shots that would take out your walkers in one hit. They also provide cover! Bonus! Also, any time you can tag-team something, (IE, two dreads or a dread and defiler, or dread/GD, etc) you stand a much better chance of wiping out problematic foes.

The berzerkers are their to claim objectives and help put out wounds while your big guys anchor the combat, or to break your big guys out of said large combats.

And damn, I wish I would have seen your army at Adepticon. I love Khorne, I love Monster Mash! Although I use lash for extra effectiveness, reading your reports makes me want to go back to pure Khorne. I always feel bad (the fluff nazi in me) running the lash in this list, even if it is more effective.

You just explained almost exactly how I play this list. We think alike it seems.
