I'm still pretty new to my Necrons (or anything), so of course I run into several issues I had to let the dice decide to go one way or another, but I wrote the questions down so you helpful guys could explain it to a newb like me. So, here we go...

1. Monoliths' wordings on their armor special rules kinda made me wonder. Does "unmodified" strength mean that powerfists do not get their double strength against their armor?

2. Damaged necrons waiting for their WBB roll are laid on their side, waiting for the chance to come back, and assault. But that one that got laid on it's side would have been the only one that a enemy squad would have made base-to-base contact for in the 6" assault move. So could have have made the move to that body and assaulted or would his assault not made the distance?

3. My necrons take over 25% "casualties", but they're really just damaged necrons waiting for a rez. Do they still count as casualties for the purposes of Morale Checks?

4. If I use the portal on my Monolith, does that count as the 'lith moving, so that my Gauss Flux weapons do not get to fire? (EDIT: Nevermind, that was a dumb question easily answered in the rule book, as heavy weapons have no disadvantages on vehicles.)

5. If I use the portal on my Monolith, does the emerging squad get to move as they disembark? Or it is like disembarking from a normal vehicle, with all of those limitations?

Thanks in advance.

1. Not sure where your seeing the "unmodified" portion. It may be a update from my dex, so not sure where that is coming from.

2. The model is ignored for all game play purposes, so no they would be out of assault range now.

3. Yes they still count

4. Even if you move you can still fire the Gauss flux, so not sure what you meant here.

Ah, yes. Right. Heavy weapons really don't mean a thing on vehicles. I think we figured that one out later in the game and I forgot to scratch the question off of my notes. Thank you, and my apologies.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

on living hull.

it says weapons that get a bonus to penetrate don't get a bonus.

powerfists increase strength, they don't give a bonus against armor.

weapons that don't get the bonus against the monolith.

Chainfists, Bright and Dark lances, rending weapons(both CC and ranged) melta weapons, monsterous creatures.

1. This really depends. The living metal rule states that any weapon attacking the monoliths uses un augmented strength+ 1D6, and powerfists double the S of the users. BUT, in the necron FAQ it states power fists and power claws still use the doubel strength. But you can ignore that if you don't take the FAQs seriously(most of them flat out contradict the rules, and are only available online which means some peopleknow they exist and some don't).

2. As stated in the Necron codex, they are ignored for measuring among other things. So the enemy unit should not have assault those necrons.

3. They took casualties, did they not? So they are casualties and thus affect whether a morale test is taken or not. They should be falling back with the unit as well.

4. No. The gauss weapons can stillf ire. BUT, if you use the power matrix as a particle whip, then the gauss weapons cannot fire, as a particle whip is an ordnance weapon.

5. It is like disembarking from a transport vehicle, with all the limitations.

he means "unaugmented" and it is the last part of the Living metal rules, beginning with "In practice".

Read the last part of the living metal rule, beginning with "In practice".

To be fair, the "In practice..." sentence was added in the Second Printing of the codex, and I've talked to a LOT of people that still don't have that yet, so that sentence is missed often...

A new day, a new time zone.

The current version of the necron codex gives a pretty clear answer to the Powerfist question. You use the unmodified strength of the _weapon._ For your typical space marine, the unmodified strength of the fist is 8.

"-Nonsense, the Inquisitor and his retinue are our hounoured guests, of course we should invite them to celebrate Four-armed Emperor-day with us..."
Thought for the Day - Never use the powerfist hand to wipe.

True. Not to mention that the faq agrees as well

If it were clear the powerfist wouldn't get the double Strength, I'd probably let a House Rule go so that he would. The poor guy couldn't drop my monolith to save his life.

Just for the record, the Necron FAQ, http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1180146_Necrons_FAQ_2004-08_5th_Edition.pdf (see the second to last question about the Monolith), says that power fists and such do still double the user's strength against the monolith.

I can only guess that they had been considering adding weapons which got bonus strength against vehicles or were making a clumsy attempt at generalizing the anti-melta rule.

Ahhh kk, I do have the 1st printing so my dex doesn't involve the unmodified bit. As a new player use the FAQs as there isn't a single tourney that I know of that doesn't use the GW official FAQs.
