Ok, I have a list up in the Army list section that is based on the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Part of this list is Vendettas taht will be painted with the color scheem and markings of the F4-U Corsairs, flown by VMF-213.

Here is my dilema. The Corsair had its machine guns mounted in the wings, rather thatn the traditional nose mount design of the time. They did this to "hit" a larger area of the sky, as the more manueverable Zero tried to dodge them. Keeping with that, I was thinking of mounting all of my lascannons under the wings, 3 on each side, making the Twinlinked go as outter, middle, inner in relation to the hull.

What do you guys think? Will I have some legal issues at tourneys and such? I hate to put the work in , then get them disallowed.

Basically rules go mate. With tournaments. its good old WYSIWUG so say if a tank had the battle cannon you can't say yeah this inferno cannon is supposed to be a battle cannon. So if the Vendetta has 3 twin linked las cannons, if they are shown then yes by all meas my friend GO FOR IT. ONLY... if you post up the progress and let me know. Im an catachan player.

Zac

Only problem is because they are twin linked. There have to be 3 lots of 2 las cannons. not sure if they will count the 3 seperate on each wing as legal. you can get away with it for design purpose but cause its something small like you want it too look sexy, which it will, then that will probably be over thrown and be allowed.

i would say model them on the wings, 3 on each side but ask your opponent before a tourney game if he minds. if he does, make sure that you painted something or added a little set of bits to the nose to be the twin lascannons that are supposed to be there. that way you're covered either way.

Actually, it doesn't say anything in its entry about WHERE the 3 twin-linked lascannons are mounted.

3 on each wing as outer to inner works fine by me.

As with any tourney though, it's completely up to the TOs (and whatever anal-retentive cockamamie ) limitations they may impose.

If you're only going to be playing in friendly games at the LFGS, then don't worry about it. If you want to see this in tournaments, it may be an issue. If someone has problems, you may be able to get away with "counts as" and since the flier will still be basically wysiwyg you may be able to get it in.

Just measure from where the guns are supposed to be.

Try to tie the outer pairs together somehow- mount them as "one" unit on each outer wing and then you will have even less of a problem. Also, please post a pic when you can. I would love to see your project!

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Unfortunately, it looks like they are getting mounted in the standard place. /cry

The good news, is that by going to a standar mounting, I will be magnetizing all the weapoons, so that I can swith the loadout to a Valk whenever I want.

Is there a rule anywhere saying that twin linked weapons actually have to be physically welded to each other? On an aircraft it makes much more sense for the wing weapons to be linked on either side anyway.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Valkyries only have one hardpoint on each wing, so the lascannons have to be attached by necessity.
