Omadon's Realm

Ah, the Adeptus Astartes, the pinnacle of genetic super-soldiery, added zygotes and glands providing this warrior breed with the ability to do the phenomenal as though it were an everyday thing and then you get to the Iron Hands...

They chop bits off. Often healthy bits. They replace this genetically enhanced amazing bit of super-soldier with bits they stole off the servitors...

And now I've just read the lexicanum entry for them, their companies are actually in open rivalry.

I give you the Iron Hands, the Imperium's biggest cash sink.

Huh?

À) the Iron Hands may have à potential fiancee..the Mechanicum.

B) imperial tax isn't spent on space marines

c) useless, waste of space, and other fine words may describe some of the imperial hierarchy correctly but 99.999999%
of those creatures arent astartes.

I wonder why do the Iron Hands love the bionics so much, marines are supposed to be pinnacle of an "organic" not synthetic.

Hail to the creeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!baby Ask not the moot a question, for he will give you three answers, all of which will result in a public humiliation.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

Given that my DIY Chapter is an Iron Hands successor, I am mortally offended by this thread! Initiate flame war!

But seriously I think that the Iron Hands pretty much take care of all their augmentations on their own, with the oversight of the Iron Fathers and AdMech personnel. I don't imagine that the Adeptus Astartes wants to rely to heavily on the Imperium's beaurocracy to get them their wargear.

Is beaurocracy spelled correctly? My browser doesn't think so, but Google does...

To answer this question...
The Iron hands consider the flesh weak, after the disaster of the Horus heresy where nearly all of them (including their primarch) were wiped out at the Istvaan dropsite massacers. This then meant they had to spend the rest of the Heresy rebuilding, and so couldn't help their brother legions fight the traitors. The IH have always been angry about that, and consider their bodies "weak"-hence, the need to upgrade themselves.
This is also why they've a wee bit of an anger management problem.

Yeah they add metal to their bodies to be more like their Primarch, who had living metal hands.

Iron Hands! The most loyal SM chapter that dosn't worship the Emperor!

The Iron Hands dont spend half as much on bionics as the BA spend on art or the SW spend on beer.

6000 points IG, Leviathins 8th company, (store regiment) 60% painted
4500 points Empire 80-90% painted!

I'm more bothered by the brutal methods they deploy, like the massacre they perpetrated in the Contqual Subsector. This "loyalist" chapter seems to have forgotten that the Astartes are meant to protect humanity. Not destroy it.

Their need to replace the divine gifts of the Emperor is a flaw in there geneseed, much like the Black Rage/Red Thirst in the Blood Angels, and the Canis Helix in the Space Wolves, except these mutations are actually useful, compared to the Iron Hands' desacrations.

Wait what? The Contqual Subsector, they were killing heretics and traitors who were corrupted by demons of Slaanesh. As for the people who turned on their corrupted rulers they still had to suffer to see the true cost of chaos and 1 out of 3 citizens were killed. "to court damnation was to invite only destruction."

As for the "divine gifts" of the emperor, the Iron Hands believe that the machine parts they recieve are "divine gifts" from the Omnissiah. Most if not all chapters have "flaws" in their geneseed, but no one sees them as liabilities. The Raven Guards, Crimson Fists, Imperial Fists and Black Templars are all missing the mucranoid and beltchers gland and no one sees them as incomplete marines. As for the Black Rage and Red Thirst they aren't "good" its taint in their geneseed that they themselves are ashamed of (IIRC)

In conclusion the Iron Hands are their own chapter who in the end does the emperor work and has little to no taint. So whats it matter if they believe in the omnisiah, every chapter venerates their primarch, why not venerate a "god"?

IIRC the "Omnissiah" is tolerated by the Ecclesiarchy as another face of the Emperor... A deified representation of The Emperor's mastery of building machines and whatnot.

I know I read that somewhere reputable... Someone help me out here!

I think the Omnissiah is supposed to represent infinite knowledge more than mechanical skills specifically, but yeah, you're right. I'm sure it says so in the rulebook somewhere, either when discussing the AdMech or the Imperial Cult.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

In Mechanicum I believe it is shown that the Emperor actually does have psychic control of technology and such. I never read the book myself, but that is what I have heard. The Omnissiah is probably still actually the Void Dragon though, the Emperor just gets all the credit.

Wrong!
Only their first companies were massacred, the rest were not deployed.

As for the thread, it does present a logical point.
What use is all the training (muscles, bodily skills etc) when those will only be removed and replaced with common machinery after all.

What use are all the precious organs when they wont be used in the end?

It would be better if the IH recruited solemnly with mental qualities and not physical ones, a "marine mind" incorporated into a robot would be better resource spending then a fully grown and selected marine candidate where in the end everything but the brain will be discarded anyway.

For all their foibles, the Iron Hands have some awesome background, even though they are a bit emo and full of angst, they are according to fluff, the most cold calculating and outright merciless marines of them all.

If you are fleshy, you are inferior, if you are inferior, you are weak and if you are weak, you don't deserve to live.

I'm surprised they haven't gone all necron and started killing every living thing.
