Inboud...

What are you running them with, and what are you facing?

I'm a big fan of Stormies; in CoD they work very well, as its hard to target them before they get in position, allowing them to inflict a great deal of damage before they get splatted.

There is a general consensus that they could be more effective for their points however.

My opponents are Space Marines & Necrons.
I like the infiltration, deep strike sounds cool but every body seem tell's me to avoid it.
I also like to place them in a Chimera.
And don't get me wrong, i love my stormies!

with the "glory boys" you must go with care, they can deal a great damage to Spesshh MAhreens and necrons if you have a good dice roll (5+ to make wound) but, in my experience, is useless when you use the deepstriking option, with the actual rules, they just need a good "spray" of heavy flamer or a well aimed plasma cannon to annihilate them... i must confess that the infiltration mode i haven't used yet... but, i discard it because my oponents are big fans of what we call "100 marines army", that means no way to make a good infiltration, so, i think the best way to field them is our always loyal an realiable chimera, stills an excelent option for a heavy armed and well armored transport

Stormies make great anti-tank deep strikers with the air-drop order and 1 or 2 melta-guns..

yes i know vets can do that cheaper but vets can't deep strike now, can they?

yah sure, vets cannot now, but i still thinking that glory boys are best to take out heavy armored infantry... if they do the deepstrike maybe can take down a vehicle, but surely just one, 'cause your opponent will kill 'em all in a single volley, remember that, when you make the deepstrike, all members are close together... in my case, the role of taking down off tanks (anyway, if they stand my own ) is reserved for my explorer sentinel teams with autocannons entering by the flanks they stand much better against infantry weapons (almost, the most of them) an they have a much larger range to kill far-away targets...

Injecting 100% Marbo into the enemies rear without any of it missing? that would take some kind of tactical ge...

I can't full recommend Stormtroopers/Kasrkin. The AP3 on their hellguns is uber-awesomelolz but the S3 just sucks so badly its exceptionally hard to recommend them. I hate to say it, but the fact that vets are the same BS, can take an extra special weapon, are scoring AND come in at a lower points cost I've got to say; go for Vets*.

* This still doesn't stop me including 5 Kasrkin with two meltaguns in my Guard army as the models are just stunning

Deepstriking Stormies in a marine's back field wreck Devs, Long Fangs, and the rear armour of tanks(with meltas) that aren't pressing forward.

In addition to having DS, Stormies also have Pistol/CCW over Vets.

But then, I have a history of doing things with Guard that you're "not supposed to do" and getting away with it.

Stormtroopers are cool, but expensive for what veterans basically do already. If you're playing against Marines and Necrons they don't sound like a terrible choice. Figure in a generous round of shooting against MEQs:
10 hellguns rapid fire for 20 shots, 66% hit, so about 14. Of those 15, 33% wound, which makes for 5 dead Marines out of cover.

Nothing amazing, but my hackneyed mathhammering says they're pretty okay. They are pricey though.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

They cost more than SM and the only advantage to taking them are the multiple deployment options you have. If they were cheaper, or the hellgun had a higher strength (I don't think S5 AP3 would be too bad) I would totally take them in every list I made. Right now, they just get used if I need to fill points.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

This would be broken. S4 is acceptable, S5 is way too powerful.

I've been playing guard for over 4 years. I have never, ever included Glory Boys in my tourny lists. They're a ton of fun for fluffy games, like apocalypse, and the Storm Trooper Strike Force datasheet is crazy broken, and yet so much fun to uleash upon an unsuspecting MEQ.
"Hah, my marines are safe in this bunker, laying waste to your tanks!
oh, storm troopers. That sucks, but I still get my 3+ bunker cover save. Wait, you mean I don't? Crap, that wasted half my squad, but at least I still hold the bunker.
WTF? They get to shoot again!? And there's another two squads of them!?"
Good times.

Besides, Kasrkin Models are AWESOME!

Imperial Guard: 10,000 pts
Space Wolves: 5,000 pts
Tyranids: 2,500 pts
Bretonnians: 2,000 pts
DaemonHunters: 50 pts (that's right, 50... Boo Yah!)
