Krazed Killa Kan

Columbus, Oh

Alright, got my hands on 6 of the new Killa Kans. assembled em, but not glued on the arms yet.

I plan to be fielding them in 2 units of 3. However, I only have 2 of any given ranged weapon.

Would it be best to EITHER...
A. Double up the weapons and field 3 units of 2.. (Grotzooka x2, Rokkit x2, Big Shoota or KMB x2)
B. Scrounge up a 3rd weapon for Rokkits and GZ?
C. mix weaponry within a unit as to keep a squadron of 3?

Also, as I read various threads, the GZ seems to be the weapon of choice vs infantry, and Rokkits vs Vehicles. For a basic All Comer list, should I just stick with those 2 types, or might it be worth it to play around a bit with the KMB or Big shoot option?

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

All of my Kans get Rokkits...period.
Then again, I also run 2 squads of Lootas, so Grotzookas don't really add much to my list

I would go with all rokkits if you can BS 3 is rare in the ork army and orks need as much anti-transport as they can. KMB's look ok but your paying more for something that's not really that much more effective. Grotzookas are good against infantry but Ork boyz are even better. No real sense in putting more icing on the cake.

Grotzookas are also useful versus light tanks and transports (AV 12 or less). Despite their shorter ranges, the Grotzooka can scatter farther than 18". With rokkit launchas, it's one shot or not per kan with a 50/50 chance for either. Grotzookas give each kan two shoots with templately aktshun.

Despite this however, if you army fails at popping opponent vehicles, switch over to the rokkit launchas.

If you cannot get any other weapons, group the KMBs and Rokkit Launchas into two groups, and add a Grotzooka to each.

I could not disagree more. NEVER mix weapons on your Kans.. Make sure that all 3 have the same weapons. You can always get more Rokkits by scratch building or using other bits. I use Hunter Killer missiles as my Rokkits, since they are easy to get ahold of, because almost all SM/IG players just have them lying around.

Rokkits on all your kans.

Grotzookas are anti-infantry weapons, and are fantastic against horde armies and foot-slogging armies.

These days, there aren't may of those floating around - its a mechanized world. To answer mechanized lists, you need rokkit launchas.

9 killa-kans, all with grotzookas, 3 units of Lootas (starting with units of 5, until you have the models to field a unit of 15, then 5/5/15, until you have 10 more, etc), a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field....and a few mobs of boyz, and you're off to a great start.

You meant Rokkits, right?

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

It's best to have the same gun type on a unit, so I recommend that you acquire a few bits to flesh out your units. You can get good grotzookas and rocket launcher bits from a third-party source here: http://www.ocd-publications.co.uk/default.asp?category=accessories. I used them and can vouch for their quality and fast service. Good stuff.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the grotzooka since it's anti-infantry and minimizes the rare BS3 you have in your army. If dreads could take them, sign me up, but not as much for kans. So, I use rokkits on all 9 kans. KMBs are nice for terminators or meganobz, but 2+ saves are still rare enough that I don't know that it's always worth the +5 points per kan. Rokkits are cheaper, generally as effective, and fill a weakness in the ork army (ranged anti-armor). Big shootas and skorchas aren't good choices on kans.

Columbus, Oh

I think I will attempt to aquire or kitbash the extra 'zoota and rokkit to outfit the kans thusly..

3 grotzookas
3 rokkits

which will leave me enough extra arms to maybe make a Dread... use the scortcha arms for that??
