Yep. Citadel spray paint is really expensive, and I was wondering if there was a good alternative. I considered regular ol' home depot spray paint, but then decided against it, seeing as it isn't acrylic.

Is there any "acme" spray paint that works well for citadel models? I paint tanks and marines for the black legion, so it needs to look good enough to be a main coat. I don't want really shiny paint either, so chaos black might be too shiny for me anyway. Thank you, meow.

Krylon, Or color place. Both are used as primers for other crafty, interior decorating things. They adhere well to plastic. But color place needs to be shaken much more longer and vigorously than krylon. It is SUPER cheap. You can get it at wal mart or any hardware store in America.

Good luck

I've gone back to citadel for priming. The spray is soft and diffuse, and goes on nice and smooth. Tamiya is an alternative but is also expensive. Mr Surfacer is also great but is hard to find here.

The cheaper paint types usually have a much 'wetter' spray. I find them harder to control, and generally have to spend more time getting good coverage without runs or blobs than I do when using a citadel spray. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

I really like the vallejo spray primer. Comes in white, grey or black but is pretty expensive and certainly doesn't class as an 'acme' paint. I used to use satin black automotive paint though which did a serviceable job so if you can't find the other cheap ones people are suggesting you could have a look in the auto sections and see what you turn up. Just don't buy filler-primer unless you want to turn your models into stone golems.
