Hey guys, been collecting some SM for the past few months, finally got around to uploading some pics. Only thing I don't have painted is my razorback. Hoping to add more drop pods, land speeders, and a second raider soon. Hope you like!

Its always good to see painted armies Lots of little conversions and you stuck with a theme.

They've got a sort of halloween theme going, not my thing(Im like orangeaphobic lol) but you've done some good work there

This looks great. I like the simple way you've done the cracks and the freehand looks great! I'd love to see more fully painted armies in the world. It's discouraging to always play against primer armies. Keep up the great work!!

Thanks guys!

I've been working overtime to get them all painted up the past month, always wanted to field a fully painted army lol. I wanted to do a slightly different theme for each unit type so I went with the cracked lava on all my elites. The lighting in those pics whites out a lot of the detail so I'll post some better ones soon.

@The Fox Lord: That sword is actually from the undead army's Negash character from wh fantasy.

I never can understand people who don't field fully painted armies. Yours looks very cool Evolving.

And it's amazing how if you want to get a cool looking weapon you have to go to WH stuff to get a good greatsword!

Really? Quite elitist of you. How's living in your mom's basement without and kids, wife, job or school? :p

I would revise my statement to a positive and say, "I'm always happy to see people at the very least try to paint and experience the hobby as a whole!"

All I'm saying is they're missing out on really showing off their army to its full potential.
I LOVE modelling. Painting can be a slog, but to see a finished model, and even more a finished army, is pretty cool.

And my mom doesn't have a basement thanks lol

That sword is bloody huge!! Not a fan of such a big weapon when held with one hand though but this is a sci-fi game so its all good. Makes him stand out thats for sure!

Some of your work looks incomplete though. The dreadnaught for example has some nice blending with the bright parts, but the black seems to be very plain. The winged logo on his front is black with the background so it doesn't stand out. Maybe paint some of the details a different colour to make them stand out?

You army is looking great on the table. You will have some great games ahead of you.

Bonus points for doing your own custom coloured army too!!

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

I definitely agree that its an aspect of the game they're missing out on. I feel bad when people just throw up their hands and say "I can't paint" I wasn't born with my abilities to paint models, I had models painted with testors paint and my moms nail polish. I did it, I'll admit. And the only reason I paint well now is because I painted like crap and stuck with it!

I enjoy painting the models and trying to make my army look good, but there is no way im going to get 2500+ points worth of minis painted in a week, or even a month. I can paint maybe 2 hours a night 3-4 nights a week. I enjoy playing the game and am not going to wait 4-5 months to play just cause my army isnt painted.

That being said, i do try to start out by painting my main figures, the general, then any hero's so they look good. Then my bigger models or calvary that look really good painted. If i ever get around to my R&F models of my main army before i start working on my next big army figures ill be surprised (unless i hit the tourney scene and need the models to be painted for judgeing).

...urrrr... I dunno

Very nice, very nice indeed. I especially like the magma detail on the vehicles, that's a very nice touch.

I think we both might have taken what he said the wrong way, that's the bane of the interwebz.

But to the OP, again, your army looks great and its really nice to NOT see a chapter color or ultramarines. These guys remind me of some legion of the damned precursor army or a Legion of the Damned themed army. I'm really digging them.

@ShivanAngel - you should add your R&F troops in between your chars and vehicles, even if its only 2 or 3. Personally I find it helps to push through and break up that awful slog of 30 marines or whatever.

@evolvingeye - great looking army there, refreshingly original theme.

Much thanks guys!

@OoieGoie: You are right about the black highlights, in fact only about 10% of them have had the black highlighted, thats going to be an on going project over the next few weeks haha. The plan was to get the main colors done, then go back and highlight everything, I actually still plan on putting more highlights on all the other colors as well.

Yeah should of mentioned i play fantasy, so those R&F is more like 70ish instead of 30 haha. But yeah i do lines of like 5-6 at a time sometimes. They are nowhere near as good as my characters, and some day i hope to strip them and redo them really good. But when a model done right by me takes 3-4 hours...

Very nice paint job btw, ive been practicing and getting better, hope to have talent like that some day.

Love the army, and have no problems with the sword

Im in the same boat as shivan.
I get a few hours here and there to paint, and when im spending an average of 10-12 hours per normal sized model, a whole army takes some time
Takes even longer when i start adding alot to an army via sculpting or converting.

Too much work, too little time :(

Yea I hear ya, its hard to paint for long periods of time on the same things without getting burnt out. I got pretty sick of painting so much red / fire on these dudes, but I just kept on truckin and eventually realized I was getting close to finishing them all so that gave me a 3rd wind so to speak lol.

I didn't like the lighting on some of those first pics so I took a few more to show the paint better and show a few little details I didn't get to before.

(and yes I know the custom jump pack on the chaplain is like the cheesiest conversion ever, but meh... lol)
