I was reading up on Iron Maiden earlier, as I seem to know be throuroughly obsessed with them now.
Moving on.

I was looking at pictures of Eddie the Head, also known as Eddie the Great.

An idea began to slowly come upon me, spured on by the news of the new album, The Final Frontier

With literally hundreds of pics of Eddie to use as inspiration and reference, I have decided to make an Eddie the Head conversion.

My first step on this undertaking is deciding on a picture to base this mini on.

In the end, I've opted to use a combination of two great Eddie looks.

His head and right arm will be that from the Killers album cover.


And his body, legs, and left arm, will be soldier Eddie, based off the A Matter of Life and Death cover.


I've settled on which range of models to use to base him. I will be using heads from the Vampire Counts Zombie sprue for his head with some gs hair, and possibly the torsos as well, tho I might use IG.
As for his legs, I will be using Imperial Guard standing legs.
His right arm will probally be a conversion, as I want it to be holding his signature hatchet. The closet bits I've been able to find are from the Black Orc range.
He will also be holding a bolt pistol in his left, to go with the Matter of Life and Death cover.

I figure I'll prolly never use him in a game, more as a cool side project, but if I do, I'll use him as a regular officer, equipped with a ccw and bolt pistol.

Good luck with Eddie, but make an objective marker of Margaret Thatcher too.

That might be harder, as I don't know of a good model to base her off of.

Excellent idea! Go to a museum or something, and check out the gift shops, they usually have nice tomb-like structures for the taking, for a reasonable price (as compared to GW, otherwise it'd be exorbitant).

I expect to see the graffiti too.

I totally bought tickets for the Dallas show on September 9th without ever hearing about the new album. I must've been blinded/deafened by my own excitment for 2 reasons;
first, I'm from a city in Canada that has never had any decent concerts (Till I moved to Texas for school anyway. Figures.). Sadly, at age 22, I've only been to 1 real concert. Fortunately, it was an epic first concert, as I saw Tool last july in Dallas.
Secondly, the concert is 10 days before my birthday, meaning my girlfriend has no choice but to consent to going.
Now I'm even more pumped.

Anyway... onto my bit that's actually related to your project.
Are you sure you want to have the left hand holding a bolt pistol? Because on the album cover, he's simply resting his hand on his 1911 holster.
Personally, I think it might look better if he was holding a lasgun in the same way he's holding the Thompson, and have the hatchet on his belt.
Just my 2 cents... which is probably about all its worth.

I'm now wanting to make my regimental standard barrier look like Bruce Dickinson or Eddie, like, The Trooper style.
Also, saw this thread a while ago on B&C. Someone made a noise marine army based off metal, and made a demon prince Eddie for their HQ. They also made a Rhino "tour bus" with the trooper artwork on it.

I was thinking that actually. Because the command squad has the holster bits, which'd make more sense. Well, whatever I find easiest to model I'll do.

I approve of this thread GES! Best of luck making an Eddie conversion! Should be seeing Maiden for the 5th,6th and 7th times this summer respectively! Best band in the world and always will be.

And I'm taking a look at the tour schedule, and gonna see if they're gonna be playing any place remotely near me.

In an ideal world, my first real metal concert would be Iron Maiden. Hopefully this is that ideal world.

I do have on my laptop a compilation of every eddy ever into 1 background.
If someone tells me how to bring it off my laptop and onto dakka i'll do it.

Ci. I didn't catch the last one and the PSA, but I finally have some time, so I'm gonna watch em today.

I even started a converting RvB characters thread. I scrapped the Church model I did awhile back, but I'm still working on making a Caboose.

Caboose is my favourite.
He gets the best lines.

I ahve a feeling they'll bring him back. They did the same with Lopez and Church twice already, and this'll be Donuts fourth or fifth.

Donut hasn't died before has he? I don't remember that? He been shot to hell loads though.
Church is allowed as he is the Alpha, which was kinda cool to know and a bit of a letdown i thought. Lopez is robot so...meh. He spent a long time as a head though!

Yup, he has. At the begining of last season iirc, he talks to Caboose, and drops dead, only to wake up and talk again.

However, I was just reading the wiki, and he has passed on. A twenty one gun salute for this fallen hero.

Still waiting on my bits to make the complete conversion. Been wondering whether I should do him in my guard camo scheme or if I should
do his paint like it appears on the album cover.
