Hello

I play 40k mostly with my brother and best mate.

The awkwardness of having 3 similarly sized deployment zones with equal distance between them is a bit of an issue - one army is inevitably 'in the middle' and usually comes off worse over the course of the game.

Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do about it?

We've had a few games with everything starting in reserve which worked ok, and we're starting to just do 2vs1 games, but I like a bit of a triple-threat match - it's just a logistical nuisance

Any suggestions?

Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Have a look at page 273 in the rulebook.
It has an interesting method where instead using the table edge everyone places a "base camp marker" and deploys from there. There are some restrictions about where you can place them but check it out and tweak the parts you don't like.

When I've played them, its been as close to equidistant as possible; two corners, and a center table in the bottom.

Thanks for the tip Crimson Cobra, I'll check it out and suggest it at the next game.

Dashofpepper - we try that setup but it rarely works out to be fair for all players

anyone else have any tips or share what they do?

I would say the best solution would be to play on a round table if you have one that's large enough. Just have everyone deploy 120 degrees apart on the perimeter of the table.

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.
