Hi there fellow Dakkazz,

I've been playing Orks for almost a year by now. Except the last 3 games I was often victorious except a few games against Daemon Hunters and Nids. However in my last 3 games I was almost annihilated by Leaf-blower type IG lists, please help me to deal with them! They became very popular in my local gaming community.

Well here is my list:

-Warboss with PK, CB, BP, Shoota/Skrocha, Att. Sq., Eavy Ar.
-8 Nobz: 7+1 Doctor, 2 PK, 2 Big Chp, BP, Waagh B, 8 Cyborg Bodies and they are all individual models to abuse wound allocation rules (They are Troops)

In BattleWagon: Open-Topped, 2 Big Shoota, Red Paint, Deff Rolla, Armor Plates

-Big Mekk: CB, Eavy Ar, Att. Sq, KFF
-8 Nobz: 7+1 Doctor, 2 PK, 2 Big Chp, BP, Waagh B, 8 Cyborg Bodies and they are all individual models to abuse wound allocation rules (They are Elites)

In BattleWagon: Open-Topped, 2 Big Shoota, Red Paint, Deff Rolla, Armor Plates

-20xOrk Choppa Slugga boyz with Nob (Eavy Ar, BP, PK)
-20xOrk Choppa Slugga boyz with Nob (Eavy Ar, BP, PK)
-10xGretchin and 1 Rutherd with their listed equipments (Either as reserve troops for late game objective grabbing or as Groot Screens for one of my Boyz)
-3xDeffkopta with RL Rokkits
-8xLootas

This is roughly 1700s and if the game is higher i add 3xKilla Kans or 5xKommandos with Snikrot but so far we only went over 1700 once. So the core list is the above one.

And here is what i've lost against:

Well you all know them... Lots and lots of Chimeras (i saw smt like 12 last time), veterans in them, one Vendetta, 2 barrage shooters or a powerful Leman Russ variant, and once i had 3 heavy weapon squads with Lascannons. And finally the Pyskers... That made my Nobz run away for the first time...

Please help me, do i need less boyz and more trukks? I want to keep Nobz and wagonz no matter what since i like them as my core but the rest can change?

I was so happy with my Orks until the last couple of weeks

You have too much wargear on the HQs - Mek should just have KFF, and nothing else, Warboss doesn't need Skorcha and CB, and can do without ssme of the rest.

Nobz - Far too many in each sqaud for anti-IG, as smaller numbers willstill kill everything in a 5/10 man squad. I would drop em to 4 man squads (either 2 klaws or 1 klaw+1BC) and forget about WaaghB, Cybork, Doc etc. Cybork is useless as mech IG will have no/few PWs.

Drop the Red Paint and Armour Plates from the BWs
Take the armour off the Boyz Nobs

Drop a Deffkopta and split the others into 2 units of 1w/TLRL+Buzz for Alpha striking
Bulk up the Lootas
Get a third unit of nobz in a wagon
Mech up the boyz (3x 12 in trukks)

IE:

Warboos - PK, Eavy Ar, Shoota - 90
Big Mek - KFF - 85

Nobz (4) - PK, Big Chop, Kombi-Skorcha, Battlewagon (2 Big Shoota, Rolla, Plank) - 240
Lootas (10) - 150
Lootas (10) - 150

Nobz (4) - PK, Big Chop, Kombi-Skorcha, Battlewagon (2 Big Shoota, Rolla, Plank) - 240
Slugga Boyz - Nob (PK, Bosspole), Trukk - 147
Slugga Boyz - Nob (PK, Bosspole), Trukk - 147
Slugga Boyz - Nob (PK, Bosspole), Trukk - 147
Grots (10+1) - 43

Deffkopta - TL Rokkits, Buzzsaw - 70

Battlewagon - 4x Big Shoota - 110

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Are you looking for a take all comer list or a list specifically to beat leafblower IG?

They'd look very different.

I think that either way, you should have three elite choices. Whether those elites consist of a kommando unit and two Loota units or a burna unit and two loota units, how big the Loota units are....all this depends on the kind of list you're making, but I'd tell you this:

If you want to beat down on Leafblower in particular - give yourself 3 units of Lootas (15 each), 3 units of deffkoptas with twin-linked rokkits and buzzsaws (I'd say three each), and fill in your army list with whatever else you want. Heavy supports - *shrugs* How about3 kannon batteries?

Now if you go first, you're almost guaranteed the win, while if they go first...probably a similar story. Leafblower lists rely on alpha strike and need to go first to stand a chance of winning; armies that can reserve, deep strike, stuff like that are their bane. Orks can't reserve a skimmer army or anything.

This is actually my generic list with a well proportion of success for most of the armies except mech IGs. So i will keep BWs with less equipment but still with rollas, they are the best!

I will definately have more trukks less boyz. Loota boost is a well idea but i just want to change the list a little bit so that it is still well against IG mechs too but not only good against them.

And one more question. What about going 2nd and trying to seize initiative all the time. I am asking this because i always want to avoid refuse flank or having my Nobz too far (like 2turn distance) away from enemy ranks. That is why i always give the opponent the chance to deploy first. What do you say about that?

Its a bad idea, leafblower realies on Alpha Strike. Just set up your KFF wagon the center of the table, and deploy around it.
