I like the idea, but the application seems a little sloppy. Looking at pics 4 & 5 the reactive armor plates aren't in pretty, neat little rows. Maybe that's what you were going for, but for my two cents I think that they would look better if it was cleaned up a little bit.
But great idea, and a good start!

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

I have to admit i agree with deathgod on this one. Although if it were a traitor army then it would suit it better.

i was trying for that look that happened in iraq where troops just scraped together metal and sand bags . what ever they could to add a little extra armour . ill post pics of the finished product they look better painted . for my imperial guard army in my gallery . its over 20000 points im doing another company of the wargames factory sci fi great coat troopers i ordered 7 boxs. thats another 128 troopers itll be my 6th company . when you do the guard you have to do it big . all they guys i game with . we dont build armies , we build apoc formations . were frigggin nuts . im paint snob too so i have to paint every thing . its not golden demon , but its table top good . it motivates me. good times . thanks for the complaments
