I want to make a sheet that I can print out and copy that rates players in friendly games. I want to rate player knowledge of rules/army comp/paint skill/conversions. Do you like the idea....hate it? What points would you like to rate if your group was doing the same thing?

That's just creepy.

Why do you want to do that?

It's a little strange that you want to rate friendly games....are you practicing for a tournament or something? cause otherwise it just seems wrong haha.

over 2000pts of each :

Do you have a hard time remembering who you enjoy games with or something?

Seems kinda Asperger and/or obsessive compulsive to rate random folks you play games with (of any sort really). Its like giving your friends notes on their public speaking skills after hanging out with them...

If my group did the same thing? I would include two questions;

1. Is this group really weird?
2. Should you find a new group?

I would answer yes to both those questions.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I wouldn't call it a friendly game if you are rating the other player.

4,000 (94% Painted)
1,000 (74% Painted)

Have it on a scale of dark eldar to space marine, Dark eldar = no love and you don't want to play with them. Space Marine = Glory Boy and you can't get enough.
But seriously who rates people outside of tournaments?

To rate army lists, to curb spamming.

You must be a pretty big fish in your 40K community to wield such power over your opponent's list choices. There is no objective way to rate army lists, it's purely subjective and opinion based. If someone started waving an "army rating" at players in my area, he would need to be prepared for laughter and dismissal...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Are we trying to have fun or win? I'm looking for the fun of playing. If you add a ton of Mech IG leafblower....there can be no fun.

Can't you do all that with simple criticism after the match like "This was good but these are usually not worth taking" or "you made a mistake when you did this". That seems a lot better than "5 for tactics, 3 for unit composition, 4 for..."

First, I want to say that I recognize that sometimes confronting others about things like cheesy army lists may be hard. People put a lot of time into building and painting the models, and then putting together the lists. Especially in cases of people who care more about winning than having an interesting army, telling them you think their list is cheesy may be difficult.

In all seriousness, though, trying to rate someone on these things probably won't elicit the best reaction. It is based upon the presumption that they are willing to accept your judgment of them, which is a) anathema to friendly games, and b) not likely, especially if they've been beating you with what appears to them to be a superior army list.

Here's how I would frame it if I were you. I would ask this player if he's ever considered trying out a different kind of army list. Something he's never done before. I would try to make it about testing new models and tactics, rather than just saying "your list is cheesy." Bear in mind, though, that a hardcore player with a winning list just might not want to change it. In this situation, you really have no right to judge, and trying to make another player use an army he doesn't like is a recipe for an end to games between you.

Personally, I play these games to have fun. I really enjoy gaming with friends. One of the great things about casual games is that they let you try out new units, loadouts, strategies, etc. with the understanding that the experimentation will refine the group's understanding of the game, and that the skills of the whole group will benefit as a result.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

Do you have a form for rating your date's performance, too?

I'm going to start rating my family at Thanksgiving. The meal was subpar and the conversation was abismal. 2 out of 20, grandma. I want your A-Game next year.

If you are going to be rating players knowledge o the rules then you damn well better have Gwar skills yourself.

Comp - Who determined that you are the best person to honestly and fairly determine Comp. You sure you don't rate low comp to armies you can't beat.

Paint - How good are you at painting?

These are questions that I would ask the moment you brought out something like this.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.
