Got some pics of my Ghorros Warhoof entry for Conflict Scotland 2010 to round out pics of my entries.

Managed to win all three catagories I entered, was very surprised - lots of good entries.

Ghorros Warhoof - 1st Place Brotherhood of the Brush

(Very tough to photography, need to get some better pics later)

Griff Oberwald - 1st Place Warhammer Fantasy Single and best Warhammer Overall

Cadian Veteran - 1st Place Warhammer 40k Single and best 40k Overall

Was good meeting with, and talking to other painters at the event, didn't get to catch any names but feel free to shoot me a PM to say "hi" if we did speak at the event!

Really enjoyed the event this year, much better than last year in terms of what was on offer and it was great to have someone from the studio there to judge again (Giorgio Bassani).

Cheers,

Dante

A huge congrats on dominating the contest bud ^_^. Much deserved wins (though I haven't seen your competition yet!).

You know my thoughts on Griff and the Cadian.

I think with your Ghorros I could go for some more contrast in some areas, namely the skin. He feels a tad flat in some spots and a bit of additional shading could go a long way to adding the depth back in.

I hope to see similar results should you make it to the Demon this year as well ^_-.

Looks great mate and gratz on all 3 wins.
Just out of curiosity, but what have you won with your painting so far? you paint like mad and at a crazy standard lol.

Also, there is another thread about the event and they arent happy with the gaming side of it, i take it painting was fine though?

Thanks guys.

@ Grey_Death - There is actually more contrast on the skin than shows in the photo's, as I said, bad pics!

The model is by no means my best though. Was the quickest and largest thing I've painted in over 2-3 years (only about 22 hours all told - probably more time spent cleaning the model up!).

Tried a few new things colour wise and also got to try some new basing techniques too.

@Jack - Only ever entered and won some store competitions and Golden Griffons at Conflict Scotland. Planning to finally enter GD this year though!

Painting was fine as far as I was aware. Giorgio Bassani judged, assisted by 2 staff members. He judged GD Italy last year, was formerly on the Eavy Metal team and is now a GW sculptor so he was definitely better qualified than the judges last year!

@ The Power Cosmic - Thanks mate, pics are a bit poor for him too, really need to put some effort in with my photography!

Cheers,

Dante

Even if it's not entirely accurate, I see this picture and must hence forth dub this to be the mythical UniGor.

Awesome job and congrats and the Trifecta.

Nope, the legs were entirely sculpted. Funny you should say that as Giorgio thought they were from another FW kit which made me extremely happy!

The head is indeed from the HQ kit.

Just...wow....I've been browsing through all your WIP logs and it has everything...amazing painting AND sculpting

Congratulations on the triple gold. You definitely deserved it, those are some awesome miniatures. I particularly like the skin on the Cadian, I happened upon the tutorial in your blog the other day and love your alternative take on skin.

Anyway, keep it up! You're doing a right proper job of making me feel like a newbie!
