I'm a fairly new player looking for games. I've gotten myself up to speed playing with a few friends but now i'm looking for some new opponents. Anyone nearby to play or a store somewhere to go?

if memory serves me correctly Hamden is north of Hartford so basically smack in the middle of the state.... (I went to school in Westfield, MA)

I am aware of a lot of gaming around you, just not close to you.

The guys up at www.the131.com are a sprawling group of 40K players all over central and western MA. They have different store they go to and cover a lot of the action in that part of the state.

East of you in Warwick RI is Veteransgaming...

Veterans Gaming

Warwick RI 02888

Dean is a great guy and he runs regular tournaments with good attendance.

finally you have the Southern New England Gamers, or SNEG guys. They play out of Fall River, MA I think... they rent out their own place and are unattached with a store.

Hamden's just north of New Haven. Unfortunately there's not a real active store down that way. A few comic stores but that's it.

Linder's Collectibles out in Clinton is small but good (Leroy is a great guy), and as CT Gamer said Time Machine is probably 45 minutes north of you. Last I heard they were looking at opening a store in the Orange area.

My friends and I game Warmaster and Epic at the Time Machine every month or so, it's a great venue. They've put a lot of work into the game room over the past year or two.

Haven't been to the Battle Standard yet, that used to be the Warsmith and was opened by the GW store manager that was in the Buckland Hills Mall. Haven't been there yet.

I'm looking for a gaming group in the Norwalk area...trying to limit myself to a 30ish minute drive each way. 40k, some fantasy and specialist games.

RB....I poked my head in there yesterday, and it was a pretty quiet reception from the owners, and where do you guys play? There doesn't seem to be any real space...but if you get a crowd I'm game.

Forbino, we generally play outside the store in the mall. We've had at our largest Sunday gameday, maybe 12 players, all playing at the same time. With second games possible. At the store we generally get younger players, but at the BfS its generally an older group. Sometimes its hit or miss.
Heres the web site for BfS, you have to join Yahoo groups.

It's a bit further (probably about 40 minutes drive from Norwalk in moderate traffic), but Clockwork Comics in Orange runs tournaments for 40k, Fantasy and Warmachine/Hordes. It's mostly older players. Not too many kids come in to Clockwork Comics.

We are about to finish up a Warmachine/Hordes tournament this weekend (it was a weekly game each sunday for six weeks). The next tournament on the schedule is suppose to be 40k though no details have been worked out yet.

Head up RT8 to Otis, MA and take RT23 to Russell, MA there you’ll find a place called Base Camp.
The 131 group also frequents there.
You could also take 91 to the pike but that’s a lot longer of a drive.
Saturday is a great day for gaming, painting or just hanging out.
It’s also a pizza place and has great French fries……..
People usually start showing up around noon and I’ve been there as late as 2AM playing …..
6 tables + a large painting area…..
100% fun.

For The Greater Good….. says who?

I haven't been to Sarge's in a while but they always seemed to have a decent amount of players there. I generally play over at The Battle Standard in the Buckland Mall and I know there is also the Time Machine just down the road.

Cheers,

There's usually a good crowd there on Wednesdays after 4pm and Saturdays after noon if you're looking for a pickup game, and there are usually tournaments every month or so.
