Now, I have finalized my order and am ordering my 2250 points worth of beastmen from Wayland Games tommorow, and now I am on to other things.
I know I'll have several blocks of 21 Gors, which are on 25mm bases, so what would be a good movement tray set for them? I see the ones on the GW site, and is this one any good?

I personally cut plasticard and balsa wood to size. I haven't done a price comaparison, but I don't imagine the savings are so amazing that I'm making out like a bandit or anything. Just something I did with the first unit and now I'm keeping it up for uniformity...

i suggest the modular movment tray system gw has. it allows you to custom build your movment trays in whatever size you need, and is relativly inexpensive. i get about 4 -5 trays per set ( mind you i build edges on all 4 sides, so you could feasably get more) for roughly 13$ canadian.
Edit: and yes they are good and very much worth it.

I do this also, however i then get a piece of sheet metal from your local home depot (about 50 cents US) and cut it and epoxy it on top of the trays. Then i put little magnets in the bases of all my models.
This has helped sooooo much. The models dont fall all over themselves, the slightest bump doesnt kill your whole army...

The GW movement tray set is a really good deal, which is something of a rarity for GeeDub. Going to redo my skaven trays this summer with nice hard GW ones, and am thinking about going magnetic like Shivan and everybody else, it does seem way useful.

i never bothered with the magnets...just basing and painting them. also, building the "rims" all the way around adds to stability. magnets would definitly work well though...i just never really tried or bothered. in either case, 1 set should be enough to do a whiole armys worth of trays no problem, unless your fielding a whole lot of blocks of guys. (you get 2 sheets of "tray" each one holds an 8x8 of the larger infantry bases (the ones chaos warriors use), or 10x10 of the small bases and enough rim/edge pieces to boarder that and then some.)

I use 1mm plasticard for the bottom and triangular 5mm plastic 'rod' for the sides. Then comes a piece of sheet metal for the inside of the tray to hold my magnetized minis.

I made mine out of plasti cards and plastic L beams.
I can use the thin ones ( cheaper ) due to the 3 sides of L beams supports each other simultaneously
making bunch of thin cards incredibly sturdy.
Its also very cheap + 100% customizable. For the price of 3 GW trays i can give trays to every unit in my army.

My older 'retired' aries used the old GW mvt trays
My lizardmen use the new customisable GW ones.
All my other WHFB armies will be using custom made wooden trays with metal sheeting for magnetisation that I get at the FLGS on the other side of town.

I get balsa wood from Hobby lobby, Michaels, or any craft store.
Cut them to the size I want, putting sheet metal in-between two identical pieces. Sand them down, and add a border.
When it’s all done, I spray paint them black.

I still use the old lime green ones =P But my regular opponent uses the make-your-own-size set, and it works really well. I've been thinking of buying some myself for my Wood Elves =)

Appreciate the move.
Yeah, I guess the Modular ones are the best, as their customizable.
Just need 4 trays that go 7x3 wide(with some more ranks in the back incase I need to go 5x4 or 6x3) Which I assume would be 2 sets.

I've used balsa wood in the past and putting a raised ridge around the edge is no problem either. A thin plank of wood and a strip to make the edging costs almost nothing and you can make dozens on them.

I use Basswood (much stronger than Balsa) and cut them to size and glue thin metal to the inside. Then line it with 1/4" Basswood strips. With my mini table saw I can do a whole armies worth in a night.

Got the modular movement tray set in the mail today (GW ships very quickly, I was surprised) and its VERY nice, I was very happy with how much "board" they actually give you.
Very good deal, and very good quality.

It's been 8 days, but if you haven't already bought your trays, I highly recommend the Modular Movement trays set. There's a ridiculous amount of stuff for $10, I'd estimate you could make trays for at least 4 blocks of 21 gors, probably more.

I use the foamboard from Michael's, although many/most people use balsa wood.
To this I attach the adhesive magnet strips, cut to the same size, also from Michael's.
Voila! Wall-less movement tray

I just wanted to ask, while this is still generally useful to some, what do you use to cut the "board" for the modular movement tray? Just plastic cutters? I don't want to end up ruining it.
Sort of a dumb question.

I score it with a utility knife, flex it back and forth and snap it - like with thicker plasticard. Something you might notice, the grid on the board fits your 25mm / 20mm bases ... until you add the sides on, at which point you've got Xmm of extra board you didn't expect. Even with careful measuring I was getting trays that were too loose or too tight, partially because GW bases are not actually the mm they say they are.

For plastic trays, I score along it with a stanley knife and snap them.
I make most of my trays out of balsa wood ( like this).
