Hi all.
Whilst taking a trip down memory lane yesterday looking throughsome of my first few threads (ah, the good old days), I noticed what had been one of my favourites which had been called "whats your catchphrase?", which unsurprisingly asked you what your catchphrase was (I.E something you say quite often). It was then an idea struck me.
Why don't we make a dictionary of phrases?
If you're understandably confused as to what the throne I'm on about, I shall explain. I thought it might be a nice idea for us all to post up quotes or phrases up to form a kind of online phrasebook, not unlike the Urban dictionary. I know all that sounds a little longwinded, but I hope some of you think it's a decent idea and contribute.Ideally each entry should include the phrase or saying itself, a description of what it means, ans=d one or two examples of where you use it. I'll get us started with some examples.
Lasgun wedding: A rough or unhappy relationship. "Did you hear about Emily and Jack getting together?"
Hmm, sounds like it's going to be a lasgun wedding then."
Paint it black: Break or mess up. "If he says that to her again I swear I'll paint his face black." "Dude, I think I've just painted my project black."
God of Blood: Expressing dissapointment or irritation at something. "God of Blood you're an idiot." "*notices pen smudge on Homework* Oh God of Blood!"
Pulling a Tyler: Leaving the room for an odd, unknown, or impromptu purpose. "Looks like Miss' pulled a Tyler then" (This saying comes from the habit of our History teacher always leaving the room during lessons for some reason).
