Hey I was wondering if anyone here had vassal and wants to play on Vassal I just got the software and I'm excited to try it so I can get some experience vs other players or with a new army to see how it works out. Right now I have a 1500 point Space wolves army but I want to try Dark Templars or Dark Eldar and I dont really have the ability to play as many games as I'd like. So.. Anyone wanna play?

Alright, probably won't be able to get online today, I just came home from a badminton tournament and finished dinner, and I'm dead tired, however, I'll be on mainly during the weekends. I also have to redownload, as I got frustrated last time I tried. I'll add you as a dakka friend, and we will hopefully remember and find each other online.

I don't know if he would be up to it, though I know DashofPepper plays vassal alot, PM him or something. He also plays using skype and a microphone or something. As far as I know, as long as you can move fluidly and at a decent pace, he would be up to it.

As for me, I gave up on vassal when I played a match... two hours -----> top of two!

I played one game against Gwar and it went for about 4 hours and 20 minutes. It ended at about 5 in the morning.. But it was fun

Hell, out 500 point game lasted 2 hours.

I think new players really stretch the time because of their lack of knowledge of the console.

Best thing to do is play small combat squad games until you get used to the application. You'll get to grips with things and then things will go faster. I can now play a game in the same time frame it takes to play a normal game.

Perhaps I'll see you guys on there some time.

Hey folks!

Vassal is step 1.

Step 2 is to to download Skype. Playing Vassal without voice chat is like playing a real game of 40k without ever talking to your opponent. Once you have skype, getting a tutorial will be an an easy process.

Just re-downloaded vassal. I don't plan on purchasing a microphone unfortunately. If anyone feels like a smaller point match, PM me.

Can anyone post a link to a Vassal dl, shatter.proof yours worked, but the Tyranids are not updated, although I guess I could try other armies that had interested me. Still, preferably a 40k module with Tyranids would be nice. Please?

You just have to add the nid extention into the 5.2 to make 5.3. I did that and I have all the nids in my game.

Oh.... boy do I feel dumb. Haven't tried it yet and I'm about to go on a 4 day trip but I'll see what it happens. Dumb question: How do you add the nid extension...? Also, sorry I'm so epic fail at this.

My module says 5.3, but it only has the old nids, can anyone tell me how to add in the new nids? Please?

Yes people still have dial up. i live in the country and all i can get is dila up unless i want to pay almost $100 a month for high speed.

So after i download vassal where do i go so i can play 40K?

Vassal had it's own 40k room(s) with the 5.2 mod just get on it and you should see some people.
