You will need a hero to lead the force first and foremost, I feel that the strongest hero through all points values is either a khorn on jugger, or tz sorc on disc... Past that the hellcannon is probably the best rare out of the lot... All IMO

It really depends on what your playing against, if you run into a lot of gun lines check out the special hero who allows you to come in from their board edge, dogs work great if you have terrain to hide them in, since you will probably only have a couple of units use them to claim/contest territory by hiding them in trees at least 2 inches deep, it gives you 100 points for a 30 point unit!
If you play a lot of Heavy Armor or low toughness opponents such as Brettonians & Skaven, use the Lore of Nurgle it has some truly horrible spells to use on these forces. PS. . . Nurgles Quagmire eats Stegadons, crew has a 2+, and Stegadon has a 3+ or a 4+.

Nothing will replace just putting some models together, proxying the rest and playing some practice games, but you can get a good sense of how certain lists play by reading some online Battle Reports. There are some good WoC ones on the WFB Battle Report thread here.
Looks like he has some fun with his Chaos Sorceror on disc and hellcannon in them!

you'll have to decide how you play. for a fast list get some more knights and marauder cav + a mounted lord. for a more static list, warriors with MoN and shields are a freaking wall and sorcerers with MoN/T will beat face.

the battleforce is a good place to start. id suggest padding it with a character. personally i think the TZ sorc on disc is a great use, and you can save $$$ by converting up the empire battle wizards kit, and using large flying bases to make your disc. (glue 2 of them together leaving the rounded edges on the outside, then add extra bits, like horns from warriors heads, or WE dryad bits to make it look flaming) otherwise the khorn lord on jugger is a safe bet, and the giant is always fun. other then that i suggest playing a few small games to get an idea of your play style, then building your force around that.

Thanks for all the good advice!
Recently i played a friend of mine with high elves. I had some problems because I had no magic or shooting. So I had to march my way through sheets of arrows. Eventually I slaughtered him in close combat. The main issue was his spell 'curse of arrow attraction' he got to reroll all of his missed arrow shots !
So i think I'll get a Sorcerer since I play tzeentch.
Thanks guys!

Hehe, yeah... Chaos is really really great at close combat, but it needs some kind of support through the other phases to win games... A tz sorc will really allow you to engage things such as fast cav, flyers, and anything that that shys away from combat (which is most everything)
