I have painted my ultramarines with blue ink and my imperial guard with chestnut ink. Chestnut ink was also good for creating rust. Gamesworkshop do not sell inks anymore and i was wondering if the whashes would do the same thing.

Washes were supposed to replace the inks, but they do give a bit of a different effect, with less shine.

They are MUCH more thin, which makes them a bit more forgiving than the old inks. You can't really put a base coat on with them anymore. They really do work well with the Foundation Paints though.

I would recommend trying Gryphonne Sepia for rust effects.

i found a local hobby store near me that still has several pots of chestnut ink. Would it be worth it to get them, since they are not made anymore??

Totally, an art shop or even some of the modelling specific inks are worth a look. I've used the washes for a fair amount of minis since they came out but I don't think they are better. They dry and stay dry though which saves a bit of faffing about (i.e varnishing).

Inks mixed with floor polish is better IMO

I have 15 of the GW chestnut inks as it is pivotal in the painting of my lizardmen, as was terracotta and tanned flesh, both of which were also discontinued.

good to know Coat d'arms has them.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
